The Power of Beliefs in Transforming Lives
Yesterday, I spoke about this topic in my podcast on the Hive Learners Discord Server, which apparently had only two people present for the discussion. I then thought, Why not write my thoughts on this topic? Maybe, hopefully, I would get more readers who would be positively transformed by what I am about to write about. So let's begin.
When we say the Power Of Beliefs in Transforming Lives, it is crucial for us to first understand what is meant by Beliefs. Here is how I define belief:
Let's take an example, like the gif below:
The person who created this gif has the belief that there will be victory if he keeps his faith. This is how the person visualises how his faith works and believes in it, attaining victory through it.
This makes me conclude this:
Our Lives Are Outcomes Of Our Beliefs
If you take a deep look at your life, your life is the outcome of your beliefs. Our beliefs have a way of positively or negatively affecting our lives, depending on what we think consistently. If your thought process about a situation stays positive, you begin to believe optimistically about that situation, thereby affecting your actions and fueling your motivation and decision-making. The same way it influences our lives when we think positively about a situation, it also influences our lives when we think negatively about a situation.
The question I would like to ask next is this:
Our beliefs are formed from what we feed our mind; they are literally our thought process; they are what we think of consistently before becoming beliefs themselves, and at this point, they don't remain as conscious thoughts; they have now become "Subconcious Thoughts"
You don't generally think of it again as you do, but it has developed from mere thinking to becoming your way of life or shaping your life.
So with in is you, Without
So what do I mean by this?
Your life is typically the outcome of your thoughts (beliefs). No wonder the Bible says in Proverbs 23:7:
As a man thinketh, so he is
Beliefs Are Like Seeds
Just like the way seeds grow when you plant them, they are seeds that develop into what our lives become when we keep them, and just like seeds, if we playfully throw a tomato seed on a soil while playing around, we would come back to that soil to see the seed germinating.
What does this literally mean?
Even when we play with words that we don't literally mean, they have a way of influencing our lives negatively or positively, depending on those words. A simple example is this:
Our Words Are Powerful.
Just like beliefs, our words go a long way towards determining the outcomes of our lives and future. Yeah, the future may be unpredictable, but our words make it so predictable, as the universe tends to receive the signals of what we say and use them to shape our future.
Even the world was created with words, as shown in Hebrews 11:3 of the Bible:
By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
This proves the power we hold in our beliefs and thoughts.
Beliefs can be influenced by external factors. How can we cultivate a belief system that aligns with our goals and aspirations, despite societal or familial pressures?
Our society, environment, and the people around us have a direct impact on what influences our beliefs, and now the problem lies in how to cultivate a system that aligns with our goals and aspirations.
There are so many ways to do this, and one of the most important things to do is:
1. Keep Writing Your Goals And Aspirations Down
We need to keep remembering our goals and what we want in our lives, and the only way to have a belief system towards your goals and aspirations is to keep reminding yourself who you are and what you want in your life. Do this every day; it doesn't matter if you wrote the same thing yesterday; keep writing it down.
Don't miss a day; remind yourself who you are and what you want. When you wake up every morning, look in the mirror and tell yourself who you are and what you see in yourself. Live your life as if you were living the future you envision, and you would see how the universe would interpret your positive signals into becoming what you envision.
2. Stay Around Like Minds
There is a saying that birds of the same feather flock together. You only grow when you are around people who have the same belief system as you do. They are the people you need to be around. Find this set of people and build together.
3. Cut Ties From Negative Energies
Cut ties with people who do not align with your goals. In building your future, you need to be selfish; you don't need people who have nothing to add to your life. Just cut them off and move on with your life.
There are three types of people we meet:
- People who have no effect on our lives
- People who have a negative effect on our lives
- People who have a positive effect on our lives
You only need the third category of people; these are the people to build relationships with, and when I say build relationships, I do not mean you should be the only one at the receiving end. As you try to receive value, always try to give value back to the person. It was mentioned in the Bible in Luke 12:48.
For unto whomever much is given, of him shall much be required.
4. As You Celebrate Your Wins, Celebrate Your Challenges
Challenges have a way of affecting our beliefs, and it all depends on how we view these challenges. What really matters is not how they are, but how they may be. In simple terms, see your challenges as opportunities to grow. See every challenge as an opportunity to become a better version of yourself. Don't see them for the difficulty they present, but always look for the opportunities they bring and the solutions you can offer to such challenges.
If you keep having this idea, you will see that you will find solutions to your challenges faster than you do on a normal day. You begin to live a happier life even in difficult times.
In the Bible Job 1:1-22 you will find the story of Job, who persistently gave thanks to God even after losing everything he had.
All these I have mentioned here work, and if you follow every step, you will see your life transformed into the future you envision. I would like to know your view on these questions in the comment section:
- What are beliefs, and how do they form?
- What role do our beliefs play in shaping our self-identity and influencing our daily decisions and actions?
- Can you share a personal story of a belief that once held you back, and how did you overcome it to achieve positive change?
- Beliefs can be influenced by external factors. How can we cultivate a belief system that aligns with our goals and aspirations, despite societal or familial pressures?

When we succeed in adapting all these principles of greatness to our lives we will be assured of having at the end of our days or when we die "a good death". And we will have left a positive legacy to our families, friends and why not to the new generations.
Thank you so much dear @starstrings01 for sharing these tools of success that will help elevate us, materially, intellectually and above all spiritually!
Exactly the Point.
These principles ensures a great future if we imbibe in them. I am glad you were able to resonate with it.
The past two years I have been doing a couple of things that I thought were impossible or just too hard to accomplish, things like cutting ties with negativity and keeping track of my work has contribute a lot, I use to smoke, was overweight and finally its been a few days over 8 months that I stop drinking beer, all this because I finally convince myself I had to change my life, its not easy, when I talk about it people ask me if I got help or went to a program, and I didn't, just one day got sick of feeling tired and months latter got sick of feeling hang over, I have tried to convince family to change their diet at least and cant even though they have seen my results, on me it was either a strong mindset or that I just got tired of feeling like sht most of the time after having a "great time"
Wow it must have taken a lot of self thought to transform yourself and stop an habit. One of the difficult things to do is change an habit you have been used to. I am glad you have been able to accomplish that.
Your family is not willing to change their diet. Maybe they have not seen a reason to.
the smoking thing was nothing, the beer habit doing stupid sht constantly when drinking also help me quit, good thing about me in this case is that all it takes is me to be mad about something to take a strong opinion about it and dont look back, basically I got mad af at myself for been hang over
Hehe😀... I'm reading through your blog post and I'm impressed and smiling. I love the the way you made references to Bible passages. It was giving that pastor vibes. Lol
Of certainty, our beliefs is one great factor that influences and shapens our life. Our beliefs drives us to make decisions or take the actions we take and what our life turns out to become is the result of the actions we take or decisions we make make. So I strongly agree that one can transform his/her life by exercising the power of beliefs.
Smiles. Pastor vibes. Let me don't say anything.
I really appreciate your input on my post. Our beliefs are so strong, and people are yet to know they are actually a superpower we possess.
Lol... it actually nice. Just so you know 😉
The pleasure is mine
Belief is what you think and approve of yourself or situation around you. Like you mentioned, it goes a long way in shaping out behaviour. It's a great factor that determines our success or otherwise.
Yoruba people have one adage, "ape mora la n pe temidire" meaning "we do verbally call success to ourselves" What one says and belief of himself is very important in who he becomes.
I smoked for sixteen years but when I realized that the habit was taking me down the pit, my belief about the action changed. Prior to that time, I didn't believe on the inscription, "smokers are liable to die young" on cigarette packs. Each time I read it, I wave it aside as inconsequential. When I changed my belief, I began to associate ciggerate with dangers. I began to believe on the inscription on the pack. I began to fear for my life. Then I quitted. I cut ties with some friends to achieve this and I thank God that I did.
Since this experience, I try to believe in whatever will add value to my life. One thing I understand over the years is that one is in charge of what he believes. When you define your purpose in life, it's easy to control external factors to be in your favor. Before an individual's belief can be affected by external factors, the chance is given for it to happen.
@starstrings01, kudos for your thought process.
The exact point and summarisation of my post. When you define your purpose, you gain clarity in what you want in your life and it would be very easy to know what to let in and what to stay far away.
Thanks so much for your wonderful input to my post.
You are welcome bro. I align with your position absolutely.
