In the municipality of Quetzaltepe La Libertad, El Salvador, there is a hidden place called Malacates Café, founded by a clown, yes you read it right, a clown and his artist friends in the circus art, but in a modern way.

My friend told me that the idea arose to have a space where local artists could share, where they could discuss their ideas on how to promote their art in the world of Clown or clowning.

This is how Malacates Café was founded, bringing together family paintings and possessions. I will now detail each of the artworks that can be found here, so that visitors can appreciate some art in addition to enjoying delicious coffee and crepes.

First, we have some animal paintings, handmade by the artist friends, which serve as a reference that artists can also create art with their hands, in a cartoonish style as you can see here.

The place is humble; in fact, most of the furniture is made from almost recycled wooden chairs. When you see it, you can tell that no modifications have been made to the house. The brick floor remains the same, of course, very clean, which gives it a somewhat eerie and gloomy atmosphere, but that's what artists like, as we all know, to have an unconditional source of inspiration.

We also have a jukebox and an old-style tape recorder, as well as a television and a wide collection of books for visitors to have a date with the past and evoke how yesterday was. Of course, we also have a mural evoking what the art of a clown means, the face of joy and the face of sadness converging simultaneously.

The place is very comfortable and cozy and will make you feel at home, without any stress or commitment that your visit may generate. Of course, it only opens in the afternoons because it is located on the main street of the local market, which operates in the mornings, obstructing its visibility. Therefore, the highest attendance is in the afternoons.

So, enjoy it and thank you for the visit. Remember to bring your own material, including photos. Translation using an English translator, remember I am a Spanish speaker.

Whoa, you found a cool place in there. Love the creativity and their reason in founding this. And those arts, OMG! I maybe not an artist but I can be appreciative to this kind of thing. Imagine creating them with their own hand. It's a super and awesome talent and skills. Arts goes very well with coffee that's for sure └|∵|┐♪

founded by a clown

🤣

This coffee shop is an AWESOME concept. What a great find. I loved the inspiration and ideas behind it.
Quirky places like these are where I like to visit, and the chances of me buying several cups of coffee and returning would be very high 🙌
