Although I enjoy the National Arboretum immensely, with all of the beautiful specimens carefully staged to their full advantage, I actually love going to the National Gallery of Art, where the loveliness of it all is permanently framed, making it possible to see it, year in and year out. The kids used to go through the paintings - leaving me behind as I lingered on each one, taking in the strokes, taking in the movements, taking in the beauty. I loved the use of shadows and light. I can only admire and move on to the next exhibit. One day I realized that in so many ways, art truly is an imitator of real life, isn't it?
Seeing the light is the key.

Words have some degree of inadequacy
When I gaze upon your loveliness
The myth falls away, finally, and we see deeper, beneath the surface of everyday attention, and we get a glimpse of an unseen beauty and wonder that seems to expand our consciousness. Those moments can be so full that they seem self-authenticating.
Effortless in nature
Simple beauty just takes my breath away
I adore light; the irresistible drama the sun creates with shadows, the descending sun playing off shadows. I want to capture the light as it spills out in a bold way… Just like I want to capture the light as it shines out from you. There are so many extraordinary things about light. It is so persuasive that it draws people; light gives warmth; light eases darkness; light illuminates a path to help you see; light exposes dangers. But most of all, light is required for growth. For plants. For people. Light.
Be the light that shine upon others.
He went jogging right past me like I was a tree and ignored my efforts of trying to be quiet and not move about. As it turned out, he had another agenda, one of which didn't include paying attention to me. He didn't spot me until he was upon me and I got a nice blur of a shot in his startled state.

Today is the perfect day for a perfect day.
You know I love Christmas! I feel like the closer we get, the more difficult it will be to find that perfect gift. The shipping, the merchandise that isn't getting restocked, there are bound to be shortages. Less will be more this year. More than I expect. :) It's not about the presents my friends, it is about family and friends. In keeping with the Christmas Countdown, I give you one seasonal picture and the day count! There are 50 days 21 hours 41 minutes and 27 seconds.
All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.
It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

I think art is meant to be admired and viewed slowly. I probably have a tendency to rush through it myself. I should slow down and really look next time I go to a gallery.

My kids have finally slowed down and started to really enjoy art and the galleries. What a waste to live anywhere that has many galleries available and not be able to appreciate them. I found the turning point when we went to a gallery where there is an artist painting and it changed the way they looked at things. Anyway, to answer your question oh, I do not have my Christmas tree up but oh, that is last year and I am doing a Christmas countdown so I put up one Christmas picture each time I post, or try to. I usually put up three trees, and this was the small one but it was in the den where we put the gifts because it's cozy and close to the fireplace. And if it were up to me I might pulling up so I could enjoy it for 6 months but I would get a whole ration of you know what from everybody so, I will do it at the end of November on Thanksgiving weekend like usual. When i was younger I would take a fleeting glance at art if in a gallery or museum, but now I can take the time to appreciate it more
But that said for me the most amazing art is the light and colors of mother nature :)

That is true! I have a better appreciation for art but I can remember a time when I didn't. Things change when I could see firsthand the creative process and I brought my kids when they were younger to a gallery have someone painting. I can honestly say that things changed in the way they looked at Art after that. Like me, they were unaware of the process and it changes how you view things.
I will say that the biggest surprise of my life was when I actually looked at the landscape one day and the light bulb clicked with the meaning golden hour. Up until that point oh, I did not understand the chasing of light in photography. It is funny how once you learn to see that oh, you can never unsee it. It's funny because the Christmas trees from last year and I am using it for the Christmas countdown which I promised I would do. It's kind of terrible to mix it with Autumn but in the same breath, everybody knows how much time we have left before Christmas. LOL

Can you believe only 50 days! Ay! Ay! Ay!!! I absolutely love the Autumn Vibe and the deep rich colors that come with it. It's such a mellow time and gives me permission take it down a notch from the summer activity. The Christmas tree and the Christmas countdown or something that I I said I would do so people could keep track of how much time they had left.
