A big howdy to all the Splinter Folks out there! In this post, I will share a bit about my RuniCore experience.

Introducing the very FIRST Splinterlands generative NFT character card! Each Runicore ("Runi" for short) is a unique one-of-a-kind magical construct. No Runi looks like any other Runi. The Rune Crafters and Technomancers are ready to create your Runi, venture forth and mint now!

What does that mean?

Let's break it down

• Generative NFT character card
  Each Splinterland card, including a RuniCore, is an NFT (nonfungible token). A Runi's appearance is randomly generated during the minting process.

• A unique one-of-a-kind magical construct. No Runi looks like any other Runi.
  Unlike normal Splinterland cards that all look the same, every Runi will have a different appearance. Six traits (background, body, foil, head, left hand, power core) are combined to create over one billion trait combinations).

What else should you know?

• A Runi is a max-level Legendary Neutral card
• A Runi has four special abilities, including a newly introduced ability.
  • Opportunity - A monster may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health.
  • True Strike - A monster's attack cannot miss.
  • Reflection Shield - A monster does not take damage from blast, magic reflect, thorns, or return fire.
  • Self Resurrection - Upon reaching zero Health, the Runi will resurrect themselves and return to the fight with 1 Health!
• A Runi is minted on the ETH blockchain and can be viewed via OpenSea.
• Each Runi comes with full commercial rights and ownership.

What about the whitelist?

I was fortunate to be one of the limited users (approximately 2,000) who was able to join the whitelist. That thang sold out fast.

Being whitelisted allowed a user to mint a Runi early.

Starting 10/25/2022, whitelisted users could mint their Runi by paying 0.19 ETH (in addition to the 100 Splinterlands vouchers required to join the whitelist). When the general sale opens on 11/03/2022, anyone can mint a Runi (not to exceed the limit of 6,500)

The minting process

I completed the minting process successfully, but I struggled when attempting to connect my MetaMask wallet to Openseas on a Brave browser. After switching over to Chrome, I was able to connect.

1. Connect my ETH wallet on the OpenSeas Runi drop page: https://opensea.io/collection/runi/drop
   
2. Initial the minting process. Sign the transaction via my ETH wallet.
   
3. Wait for it! Confirmation received!
   
4. Start to be a bit puzzled and confused. Wondering if I had made a mistake. Wait some more. Sigh of relief. It took a couple of hours for my content to be available.
   
5. Drum roll, please! Check out this beauty!
   

What's next?

I don't expect any 'new' news until after all 6,500 Runis have been minted.

The Splinterlands team is working on management functionality so that cards can be played, rented, and sold within the Splinterlands game.

From my side of things, I am trying to think of some creative ways to optimize the commercial use rights of my Runi.
