WOOD NYMPH - Splinterlands Art Contest! // Week 165
My husband @crypt-skip has been having so much fun participating in the weekly art contest that I decided to get involved as well for the fun of it. Now he's got mad skills and can make computer-generated animations, but I'm not talented like that. So old school drawing is what I did.
Since this is the first time I've tried anything like this, I had to pick up some supplies. I didn't want to spend much money because I didn't even know if I'd be able to create anything.
My first step was a quick light outline to get the feel of putting pencil to paper. I chose Wood Nymph because she's one of my favorite earth warriors. I used the Lore page to get the image that I wanted to create.
Working a bit more I filled in more of her outline.
At this point I colored her in. Then I took a photo of the paper and downloaded it to a program called LunaPic. That's where I added the title and the border that you saw in the finished product.
And I had to take a souvenir shot of my first Splinterlands art while sporting my Splinterlands swag!

The explanation that I received for the downvote is that you up voted your own comments at 100% in your previous post. That much self voting on day 5 is not looked at favorably and will attract downvotes. It had nothing to do with the quality of your post.
Ok, thanks for the explanation. I will stop doing that, although I didn't realize that trying to grow my stake with my own voting power was such a no-no. We are talking very small amounts here, and my 2 posts were downvoted by over $80. That's a pretty harsh lesson. Like maybe getting jail time for jaywalking?
But I really appreciate your taking the time to find that out for me - lesson learned!
It seems to all have something to do with protecting the rewards pool so that there is plenty for everyone. Selfvoting is never looked on kindly. 🙂
Well the reward pool got back way more than I got so LESSON LEARNED.

Thank you @melinda010100, it was my best earning post in quite awhile. And not only did I get robbed of my author rewards, I'm sick because everyone who was nice enough to support me with their vote got robbed of their curation votes as well.
Your posts are always wonderful. I hope you know that many of us are disgusted by downvotes. I do understand how it makes you feel like you want to leave Hive, but don't let them win and hang in there!
I appreciate the kind words. And I'm much calmer today - yesterday I was LIVID and CRUSHED at the same time. I've worked too hard to build my account and my "reputation" to give it up now. Just a shame that a man with over 1 Million in HIVE power felt the need to steal my measly post rewards.🤔

@trangbaby, thanks for your support. Maybe if a self vote is that bad, it should be made impossible to do. I could see it if I was making a shit post every day and voting myself with hundreds of dollars of rewards. Oh well, lesson learned, but I feel the worst for all the people who voted on the post itself and lost their curation rewards.

You definitely need to join the contest with your drawing talents! The problem is choosing a subject, there are so many interesting characters.

How do I claim the airdrop?
The airdrop is based on your collection power and the amount of DEC you own, plus a few other things like unopened card packs or land plots. To claim your airdropped coins you click on the yellow box on the right, then click on the claim button. (Mine show zeros in the screenshot because I've already claimed mine today.)
