Helena Is Ready!
About 3 weeks ago (Jesus, time flies!) I introduced you Helena, or the project to create Helen. Some of you may remember her, if not, there's the post:
Meet Helena ๐ - A Dream Came True The Wrong Way
At that point Helena was put together but just barely, so I can show you how she's going to look like. It was kind of fake it till you make it, so I can do the post.
This is how Helena was looking like, when I started working on her again, this morning. Not exactly a nice view of this lady.
So my work started with beheading poor Helena, as someone pointed out that she had no nose and that was true.
I wasn't sure how to do her nose as I've never done such thing. One solution would have been embroidery but was too lazy for that. The other option was two small buttons. My collection of recycled buttons are nice, have two jars full of buttons and because this is also a recycling project, I took out two black buttons and sewed them on Helena's face.
Then I remembered that I was planning to add her orange hair, but never got the chance to go yarn shopping, so I had to look around the house to see what I can use. This is how I got that yarn, which was sitting around for years, waiting for me to resume embroidery, but have never had the time.
Although I know how to make a wig, it would have been time consuming and pretty difficult to make a proper one, given the fact that the head is more like flat ๐ณ, so again, I opted for the easy solution and made the ugliest wig possible and hid it under the hat. By the way, I decided to sew the heat to her head as I was afraid the pigeons will steal it ๐
At that point this is how Helena was looking like. Her lisp were bothering me, I said I need to apply some botox treatment, but in the end I didn't, It's ugly though. The other thing I did not like it was the huge contrast between her skin tone, hair, eyes and lips. Although the canvas I used is not white, it's very light yellow and has a light blue strap on the right side, Helena still looked pale. I thought some real blush would do but still went for some nice red coloring pencil :D
What followed was not easy. I had to decide if I want her arms raised, by using a wooden stick or opt for a different solution. At first, before I bought the clothes, I thought I would hang her up (wasn't even a she back then, she became a she when I picked up the T-shirt and saw the name Helena on it) but she's too big and heavy. Making her arms raised seemed a good solution but the truth is, I can't leave her out during winter as winters can be tough here, so instead of the arm version, I decided to make her a spinal cord instead, to be able to sit straight.
Attaching the head to the neck wasn't easy either as should have been done before attaching her body to the pants. Obviously it's easier to b smart afterwards, but nothing is lost as it is about gaining experience, right? Good thing you don't see the ugly stitches I made on the neck.
And another trick I did was dress her up with her T-shirt backwards ๐ She deserves to wear her name on the front of her T-shirt and besides, no one knows it's backwards.
Next I thought a little make-up would not hurt as she was still pale. By the way, look at her hair :) I thought why not make her look cool.
What do you think? Would I make it as a make-up artist? ๐
And finally, standing ovation please!!! Here is Helena, already at her post, working!
Sooooo, bringing Helena to life was a lot of fun! I had no idea how to make a scarecrow when I finally decided to make one. Then after browsing videos and all kinds of tutorials, I decided to go rogue and do whatever my mind tells me and this is what has come out of it. I'm pretty satisfied with it, even though there are things I would change. Her face is one of them, I would make her eyes and lips nicer and the work I've done is ๐ฉ.
Now comes the surprise. I put Helena out to her place a few hours ago and after an hour, I was hearing some noise in the balcony. I slowly approached the door and saw the pigeons walking on the ledge, up and down without any problems. There were two, occasionally looking at Helena, checking her out. This means my ledge will be full of ๐ฉ just like before as the pigeons are not afraid of her. Maybe Helena will be full of ๐ฉ too โน๏ธ, will see, but I truly hope not as I'll be very angry!
So I guess my career as a scarecrow designer has ended before it has even begin, but it's ok, I'm ready for the next adventure.
I love your post, poor Helena had to go through a lot to finally get a job which will lead to ๐ฉ
Its amazing to se how she transforms, how different her face looks with the makeup on (now I am a bit unsettledโฆ should I wear more makeup, do I need Botox? because I look a bit like Helena: super pale and red hair๐คฃ)
SO sorry the pigeons did not shy away from your doll, but I can fully understand them, because you did such a good job ๐
Yes, unfortunately it looks like Helena can't put an end to ๐ฉ
But yes, it's clearly visible how she has changed after applying the make-up and hair.
If you want to get pooped by pigeons, sure ๐
It's been 24 hours and she has no ๐ฉ on her, so fingers crossed, let's hope she can stay clean.
I remembered Helena yesterday and was wondering if she is enjoying, having parties with the pigeons or cleaning the balcony. ๐
She became a very pretty Lady Helena!! โ๏ธ
๐ That is exactly what she's doing! Having parties! Not good ๐ฌ
She is indeed far from being a scarecrow but I have another project in mind already ๐๐คซ
Helena is too beautiful to scare anyone.
The whole process looks like q careful doctor performing a surgical process to create a real human following every detail and been careful not to leave out anything.
Helena has come to life and she is classy, fashionable and beautiful.
Everything is so lovely, the button idea for nose. I was thinking it will be one big button, but it turns out that we have two nostrils.๐ค and you did just right fixing two.
Had to realize myself too โน๏ธ
Thank you for the nice words, I tried to do my best and lost focus midway. Someone told me it looks like I can't do ๐ฉwork and he may be right ๐
No worries as I have another project in my head ๐คซ๐similar to this, but this time done it right!
I can't wait to see that too.
You're so talented @erikah
Helena will surely be effective to scare someone. I can't even look her for minute ๐
Me talented? Naaah, this is fake it till you make it, I can't even sew, learnt that from YouTube videos ๐
She's going to scare my visitors, who don't know she's sitting on the balcony ๐
Hahaha nahh it's not. ๐
Jeezz!!! Surely they'll screammmmm ๐คฃ
I can't imagine myself it is me. ๐
Helena is supposed to be a scarecrow scarring off birds, not dolled up up flirting with them!!!
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
That's amazing though. It's my first seeing Helena. Thanks for the share too.
Thank you and she says thank you as well ๐
Wow, I did not know that but thanks for sharing the tradition of your country. We have the carnival period in February, but not so big of an event as in South America. Indeed, Helena could be a carnival doll.
Basically she has chosen her name and became Helena, hen I bought this T-shirt, but I don't mind, actually it was the best choice as she had a name, before she was born ๐
Asรญ es amigo Helena Serรญa una excelente anfitriona. Igual en Venezuela, se realizan los carnavales en ese tiempo. Saludos ๐
Wow.!) Great, just great.) Helena is a real fashion model๐๐
Lol, maybe she is ๐
Thank you for the nice words.
Wow great job weldon @erikah
Thank you!
Wao! Helena looks so beautiful, I love her so much...you have spent much time to make her look so amazing ... Kudos to you @erikah hope to see more
Thank you for the nice words, actually it was like two days, not more and not full day either as I went for the easy option.
Ohh! It's cool.. so I hope to see more of Helena from you๐๐
The little changes you added made a big difference. She totally looks like a woman now and I love the two braids you added.
Well, donโt give up just yet. Let her work for at least a full 24 hours and then see where that goes. It could be sheโs just too pretty to be scary. ๐
I do hope she doesnโt get poop on her. ๐
Indeed, when you compare her face to what it was before, it is a huge difference. The braids were a lot of fun, I think she looks cool ๐
The 24 hours are up and no poop so far, so ๐ค
I may be back to your community with another fun project ๐คซ๐
Oh good letโs hope it stays that way!!
Sweeet! I look forward to seeing what this project is. ๐๐
Hello @erikah, how funny that you chose that name for your scarecrow. My name is Elena (no "H"), and another curious coincidence is that my Peakd username is "elentogether". You put Helena's parts together, just like Peakd is doing with me ๐.
