I made this native top and trousers for my husband for the burial service we attended at the village
Hello creative friends
Greetings to you all on this Monday morning, I hope you are all doing great and had a lovely weekend, it's is a beginning of a new working days ahead and I wish us all a productive week. Today with all pleasure, I will be sharing with you the making of this native top and trousers outfit using Ankara fabric I successfully made for my husband for a burial service we attended last weekend.
After making this outfit, my husband's friends were surprised on how I could make his outfit just as perfect as this, they appreciate my skills and wish their wives could also do same for them because of the money they spent on making a simple outfit as this out there, well that was actually the reason I had to go learn how to sew male outfit, just for my family and close friends and this is really helping me a lot.
I had a 6yards Ankara fabric from which I made a trousers and that was set aside and now I processed to the making of the top.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process on how I made the top.
From the remaining fabric, I folded it in two, using the chest measurement divide by 4 plus 2" seam allowance to cut the front bodice with the top length measurement, it was cut out and I folded another piece but with additional 4" to the top length.
The front and back were placed together at the top then I cut out the shoulder slant by 3"
The front bodice was placed together at the hem with the 4" overlapping the front by 0.5"
I started to input the measurements, as i marked out the shoulder, armhole and neckline measurement then I shape it out a little on the waistline to give it a little shape and cut it out with the front and back facing.
I cut out a basic sleeve using the sleeves measurement of 9" with 2" hemming allowance and round sleeves of 13" it was taken to the sewing machine and hem with 2"
The front bodice was sewn together with the facing and sewn down on the wrong side round.
The back facing was sewn to the back neckline and sew down on the facing with a little design at the back.
The two were sewn together at the shoulder and I top stitched on it as well, the armhole folded equally to notch the mid shoulder and I slash the center front by 7" for the placket.
The placket was made and sewn to the center front.
After sewing the placket, I cut out 5 by 4.5" of interfacing for the pocket and press it on a piece of fabric, I folded it in on the edges and sew it 8" downward from the front neckline.
The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and I sew 1" on both sides down to 10" for the side slit and it was finally hem by 2".
This the the final and beautiful outcome of the outfit of a top and trousers I made for my husband.
This is the beautiful outcome and I hope you like how it looks on him.
The remaining fabric was left for me to make my own outfit.
Wow, you did a good job with the outfits. Not many women are good in making men's clothes and it is cost saving that your husband doesn't have to sew his clothes with extra costs.
So I thought initially, but I found out it was easy and so simple to make when I started the learning process. It's such a great achievement for me to accomplish this and my husband was so happy with it as it fits perfectly on him.
Thanks so much dear sis.
It really creative thanks for sharing. Love
Thanks so much, how is your baby, greetings to her.
She is doing fine
This is so nice and the smile on his face says a lot. I know it’s not easy to make men’s clothing but you did it effortlessly.
Most men out there don't usually trust female with their outfit but I'm glad he trusted me with his and that helped me to learn and perfect my sewing.
Thanks so much @abenad.
