A beautiful New Year dress I urgently made for my sister
Hello creative friends
Greetings to you all on this beautiful last day of the year, I hope you are having a great time with the preparation of entering the year 2025 with positive mind set and joy in your heart, I sincerely wish us a happy new year in advance
It was few hours to the new year and just when I thought I was done with all my sewing for the year, I got a call from a family member asking me to come collect a gift for my sister, surprisingly, it was a fabric he got for my sister, knowing too well that I make her outfit, he wanted it to be a surprise to her as he would prefer me to sew the outfit before I delivered it to her, I knew my sister would always wanted me to make the choice of style for her so there's actually no point asking her before sewing since all she does is to buy her fabric and I'm left to style it to what I preferred and she has never complained about that. Well making this was a difficult task for me but I just had to do it for my sister because I knew this is what she least expected and it will definitely be a surprise as planned.
The fabric was 5yards of flower chiffon material and making it for her alone would be a waste of fabric so I thought of a simple and beautiful dress to make the would be enough to sew for her and her two daughters, this was I beautiful idea and I'm sure my sister will do much love it. I concluded in making this simple gown with pleated hem and a basic sleeve with pleated hem as well.
From the fabric, I cut out the measurement I needed to make the bodice from the shoulder to the knee length, you know how these light materials can be, I had to iron it out to straighten out the rumples.
On the fabric, I measured and cut out the basic block bodice for the front and back with seam and zipper allowance at the back.
I cut out black lining and added it to the dress because of how light the fabric is and on the front neckline, I made i little cut at the center front to give it a beautiful look.
I then sew in a basic dat on the front and back to give it a little shape
The front and back were sewn together on both sides using the seam allowance and on the shoulder as well
From the remaining fabric, I measured and cut out the round knee measurement x3 by 10" it was folded in two and sewn together, then it was carefully pleated on the hem of the dress
For the sleeves, I cut out a basic sleeve with lining sewn to it and I pleated a long piece on the hem as well.
Finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and I have this beautiful dress for my sister with a long piece as belt to the waistline.
The remaining fabric will be used to make beautiful dresses for her kids as well.
WOW! It is so beautiful, elegant, and attractive. Love its colors and it stands out. You did a great job! Thanks! Happy New Year! 😊
