Hive Guide - Don't let failure make you stop!
Hello there! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa and today I would like to write another little Hive Guide regarding the subject of Consistency and Posting on Hive.
In this case, the nuance is this concept of consistency has more than one layer. You see, people give up for different reasons and one of the reasons that people give up on their posting AND consistency is when they skip a beat. When they are unable to post ar post 3 times a week, or once a day, etc and they get frustrated with their inability to post or perhaps the fact that they are now BEHIND their schedule.
But nobody is your boss on Hive, you are working for yourself and as long as you do not post in a way that is abusive, you should be able to post and catch up with your own schedule instead of posting less and less and then eventually, nothing.
Just post anyway! Instead of giving up, just post. If you were meant to release two posts a day over 7 days and you release 1 post on one day then post three posts tomorrow!
I would not usually advise anyone to do this, it is FAR better to post regularly and evenly, and yet I know certain Hivers that say nothing in 7-10 days and then drop 3 posts in one afternoon in different communities of course, and each post doing great!
So there are some ground rules to catching up:
- Do not post two posts within 24 hours that has too much of similar content. There are exceptions to this rule, use your brain on this one. Eg. If I post a Philosophical post about meditation and another philosophical post about yoga and meditation then they might be too similar. But if I posted a Food post about baking a cake and another food post about potato bakes then it would be alright! Its different!
- Try posting in different communities!
- Still make sure to use all 10 tags, here you may overlap a little between posts.
- Know your limits! Try not to be too overzealous with the way you catch up. If your target was one short, this is easy. If you were five short, catch up over time.
The final bit of advice regarding running late and stopping posting because you missed your own deadlines is that when you have time, do the opposite! Pre-write one or two articles that have ever-green content and keep it in Drafts or saved in a Word file on your PC. Just keep it there for in case of emergency - break glass!
Again, you will need to plan this content as somewhat ever-green and thus keep in mind that after a certain time, you will need to write a different backup post and post the backup post you wrote before.
With that said, I am catching up right now! Hahahaha! I hope this motivates SOMEONE to just DO IT and make their blogging dreams come true!
I will leave you with one of my Hive mantras: You post might not make a fortune. There is no guarantee how much a post can make. But your post will never do NOTHING!
Your post will make SOMETHING! So instead of stopping, you inch forward instead. Someone who constantly inches forward eventually leaves the person who stopped dead far behind them.
Thank you for reading!
Cheers!

👍😃 Never give up, never give in....
Absolutely! That is the number one message. So many people have a problem with procrastination. Whenever someone has a reason to stop doing posting, they need to push through it.
When you hit a brick wall, go read and comment, someone eventually gives you an idea to follow through on, get going!

I don’t consider myself a newbie anymore, but surprisingly I find myself guilty of this. I find it hard to continue posting after I’ve missed 2 or 3 days of posting. The same happens with engagement. I feel like I’m behind now and getting mtself to start just feels difficult. Recently I’m very busy with some offline stuff so that tends to happen a lot.
I know about this, but somehow I find it difficult to do it. I guess it’s more about my procrastination on this case. I’m going to start trying to do better in that regard.
I think more people need to see this. Reblogging to help that happen. Great stuff, man.
Go for it man! No stopping and keep posting!
Really fantastic advice about posting and consistency @zakludick, and I especially like the part about preparing things in advance when we have time over, thanks a lot for sharing and stay awesome.

I think you only increase the amount of posts when you notice your feed is very quiet. Normally when the Hive price drops it affects activity and that is when you do more. This may get you noticed by larger accounts looking to add to their feed. I wouldn't play catch up by posting extra posts as it could send the wrong message. Quality has to remain high so if you miss a day or two then make sure you get back on track as soon as possible.
I know what you are saying and I agree fully. Do not spam.
But as I say, there are some people that can manage to post three posts in one day in three different communities and nobody minds that.
But that is also not entirely the message. What we have people is people with a lot of doubts. Regardless of Hive prices. To be honest, I don't even look at that as the motivation. The simple truth is that people who make excuses in their head stop posting regardless of the price of Hive.
We need more people making more posts. More activity across more subject matters.
To be honest 90%+ of those accounts will at start dry with zero investment.
Once a person gets into Minnow there is more incentive to invest. A 10% or less of accounts might invest early on. Maybe it's more like 1% of people. But to increase the numbers of those that invest, which would benefit everyone in the long run, we need to motivate hundreds and thousands of people to use Hive.
So I don't mind the little guy posting as much as they are able, it's never going to have such a massive effect on the economics of the blockchain that it will unbalance things.
They might get multiple curations for good content from different curation initiatives, but probably not from the same community in the same week.
I do hear you but your followers only have x amount of VP to vote and normally the more you post the less you will earn if you go above the normal average you are used to. From experience it is better off to make sure those are quality posts and rolling it over to the following day and having a post or two ahead so you never miss a day.
Indeed. The best solution is to have some(Good!) posts written in advance.
Love the last sentence especially! 💙
Never stop and always keep moving! Cheers to that! !PIZZA
Even slowly, but moving 😃💙
Exactly. Last year I had a group of Hive students and one of the people I admired the most was the one student who was the most consistent regardless of how her posts did. Others might earn more for their posts but post less frequently.
Today that same person has become a Minnow, from nothing and she are still publishing every week like clockwork, regardless of the high or low payouts on posts. Many others have been left in her dust as she continues to grow week by week!
That’s a great story! Consistency sure makes a difference ☺️
Thank you! Cheers!

Great post and excellent advice! Consistency is so incredibly important on Hive! I love and believe in Hive, and I give it my all! I've posted 1-3 times every day since February last year, so for over a year now! I'm focused, committed, dedicated, and determined! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Wow! That's great man! Well done!
Not everyone is able to post so frequently.
Thank you so much, I appreciate it! Yes, I've noticed! I started with one per day, got it worked into my habitual patterns, then two, got that set, and now it's such a part of my day that I can't imagine not doing two! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Amazing stuff!
Keep it going strong! 💪
Thanks much again brother! Oh yes, I'm all in for the long haul! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
