The plant with the beautiful vivid long cone-like thingies look like amaranthus. If it is, these are edible (either eat the "flowers" directly or grind them to make flour)😉

Wow, that's really interesting and a clever way to conserve resources and prevent abuse of the water system. Wouldn't it be nice if the rest of the world could rely on common sense to figure things out?
