California is again steering us to disaster, with a ban on gas powered cars!

It is impressive that a politician can be so naive, and stay in office! They have stepped off of the green cliff, by passing Law banning gasoline engines in powered New vehicles by 2035!

Please understand, I don't oppose alternate fuel for vehicles, I'm working on several myself to pick the best option for me

All the reporters have wet themselves, over such an 'enlightened' law! They sadly are equally naive, and don't know how to research a story. They are calling for this disaster of a timetable to be pushed closer, when it is demonstrably way too close already!

The most obvious problem is the Ca power grid:

Link on the picture, but the problem is serious and immediate...they don't have the electricity to charge what they have now, let alone this massive influx!

This is a direct result of liberal policies that restrict public utilities to slave wages. The power grid, due to these restrictions; has not been upgraded in half a century! Cause and effect, the power companies can't pay for new installations; so they invest elsewhere. States surrounding CA have decent, modern grids; but the power can't be transmitted into Ca, because the old lines won't carry the load!

These 4 states to follow CA are Washington, Oregon, Massachusetts and New York! Also, 15 are considering the same thing, but none are as ill prepared as Ca.!

They list their 4 problems, fleshed out by myself!

1. Expense, electric powered cars are high dollar, and only the richest people can afford it! Again, the disadvantage will take it in the neck here. I expect them to try for $15 a gallon gasoline, to deter use; and destroy those living from hand to mouth!
2. China will Profit because they own most of the mines for the raw material needed for making batteries. They also, through greed and stupidity, own most of the battery manufacturing plants. This is a concern, because their quality control is non existent; I have Chinese LiIon cells that deliver less than a tenth of their published ratings!
3. Infrastructure, they concentrate here on the charging stations; and not the power that feeds them. As addressed above...coal here we come!
4. Existing Worker (including Engineers) and plants are not set up for this, and will require significant retraining and rebuilding! Many workers will loose their jobs over this too, and this nation can't handle too much more unemployment. The gasoline expertise is irreplaceable, yet we are kicking it to the curb! It would be invaluable for hydrogen cars, which could actually work.

The MSM will switch gears to doom and gloom, when the liberals loose control; as they always do, as sure as ice cream melts in August! They will Not blame the liberal policies that have precipitated this abomination, unless they can point at President Trump. They will offer No solutions, because they have none to offer!

It has as taken half a century of neglect, caused by naive regulations; to get this power grid to a third world status! It will take more time to upgrade it, as materials are not as available today. I see diesel generators, on a truck like at a carnival; alongside the roads in Ca, with generating stations. There is No other way to provide this infrastructure upgrade in that timeframe! It just take significant time to install this kind of power, even After you have the transformers and wire. It's amazing, but we don't even have enough of the trailer mounted power stations!

I have installed a service drop for 12,500 V AC (toy voltages compares to this transmission lines). We had every part and a full crew, and it took 3 days! We were told 4 to 5 days, but we weren't union; we worked 24 hour days, with food delivered. I still remember torquing the taps myself, because they can explode under load if they aren't prefect; and everyone else was afraid of the voltage!

Another thing to mention here, when they realize their mistake, they will demand a rush job! Good people will die...in that rush. The ones feeding my town run 165,000 V AC; but I don't know what the cross country voltages climb to! They wouldn't even recover the bodies if someone made a small mistake.

One last item, I figured that with the mining, and the refining, you will need to run an electric vehicle for about 150,000 miles to offset the environmental load of making the batteries. One professor speaking on this pointed out that the break even was 180,000 miles.

The sad part is that the batteries won't last half that long! So every time the battery pack is replaced, we loose more ground, environmentally speaking.

The only way I see to do this environmentally, is to have two battery packs, and charge one on solar all day. They can be exchanged every night, with the right design.

I have a buddy in Florida running his entire home from one used EV Battery! This is the last major problem I see, there will be a waste stream like we have never faced in History!!!!! Current car batteries are bad enough, but these monsters are a dozen times heavier; and they can burn if abused. Note that car wreaks normally abuse the cars involved, and burned cars will be a lot more prevalent! LiIon fires can't be extinguished, because they provide their own oxydizer when they burn.

I noticed Colorado had a power problem today, and locked out 20,000 thermostats. Maybe giving them that much access is a bad idea? But they're not a good candidate for this either!

The above links are all liberal bent, so you won't get real information without reading between the lines, but we need to see this train wreak coming! I recommend you get clear of the states where they're doing this fecal matter. They will end up killing innocent people, so don't give them access to you and yours!
