Letting the Feeling Swallow me Whole

lilies again 2.jpg

Who can refute the beautiful life? I breathe deeply. letting the feeling swallow me whole. The day was born into beauty, with the earth curving into a landscape of blooms. I am in the land of plenty, with a picture on every corner. Who could resist as you walk capturing them as the gentle breeze blows through the loose ends of the tall grass?

Please take me far and away
From all that makes sense
To that place
Where it can be
Just you and me
With the lavender fields
And the landscaped of life

Today is a #BeautifulSunday by @Ace108, where we share our day in the most possibly beautiful way that we can. Today is a great day for taking a deep breath and inhaling the Lavender Farm as I walk through its fields of it. I am having the best of days, a definite #SublimeSunday in the making, by the Meister of my morning, @c0ff33a. I do love my @c0ff33 and he likes eclectic! A definite match, made in heaven. I want to thank @ace108 and @c0ff33a for hosting these fun challenges! Check them out!

center>Lavender is called by its given name, the leaves show off a beautiful shade of lavender. Fields of lavender usually are in full bloom in this area in July, in the middle of some of the hottest days of summer. The prettiest fields I have ever seen are in France, their perfume permeating the rolling hills of Provence.

This is but a far cry from all of that, but, we dropped in to see this new to us field. I am sure this is just the beginning of a beautiful relationship. The mounds of flowers are just beginning to bloom, the English Lavender. The French type is lagging behind as it is in its nature. I can envision the day that the fields are full and there is no punctuation of dirt between the plants. It is just time and patience and one day, this too shall look like a beautiful purple wave.

IMG_1127 Lavender fields.JPG

There was very little lavender blooming right now, caused by the late cool weather and the rainy spring that we had. There was a lot of echinacea blooming and other medicinal flowers. Everything about this farm whispered home, the lemonade and cupcakes served really drew a crowd. If you wanted to bring your own picnic basket, you could spread your blanket out under one of the shade trees, bring you pup, and kids too. There was a playground and a petting zoo. Did I mention there was lavender, just waiting in line to bloom?

Different varieties of yarrow dotting the fields. I promised to bring some different yarrow that I had, I find trading plants is gratifying to both parties.

The drifting of my thoughts
Begin and end with you
As I wander through,
Nothing does it better
Than the gentle scent
Of your petals

I was gifted the purple pass, which allows me to go in every day until the end of the season. You may bring a guest for free and both of you may take home 20 blooms each. We cut out 20 each and brought them home to dry. I already decided to make a couple sachets for the bedroom. How many people like lavender and what do you use it for? It was, indeed a #beautifulsunday, sublimely so. I intend to go back a few more times and pick more lavender. It is really inexpensive to pick more, but, I get if for free, so I will keep doing that. Wandering around a lavender field? I could do worse.

Gradient - Green.png

Speaking of #sublimesunday, when I got home from the Lavender Farm, I could hear the tinkling of water once again. I had turned it off to clean it before I went out and when I got home, it was clean and running again. Truly a #beautifulsunday. I was ready to have a good weekend after the challenging day I had Thursday night. But that is a post for another day. And just like that, this show is over. Come back tomorrow and I'll do it again!

Speaking of the word up and I know you weren't... but, if you were, I was reading tonight something that made me laugh. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, it gets the earth wet and often messes things UP. When it doesn't rain for a while, things dry UP. One could go on and on, but I’ll wrap it UP, for now, my time is UP, so it is time to shut UP about up! ...Excerpts are taken from “Our Crazy English”

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Your photos are very good, they look very soft and provide shade, I mean very soft to look at, despite seeing it over and over again.
But, your language is also very soft and simple. It is like flowing water but it washes away those who read it.

Have a nice day

Lavender in the garden is one of my favorite smells by far. I dont think that anything can beat that smell for me. It's in bloom or begining too, around here right now as well.

France had the best lavender fields I have ever seen! The scent is so wonderfully aromatic and I look forward to the season, all year long. I am drying out bushels of it right now for different things. I am even going to try cooking with it this year.

Have you ever cooked with it?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great day! Every day is a great day when you live in France!

I've never tried cooking with it. I feel like it would be challenging to do so. I had lavender ice cream once in the south of France and it wasn't very good. It tasted like soap or maybe perfume lol. It was way too strong. A little goes a long way lol.

Good luck though. It's a good experiment.

What do you plan on making?

I am sitting here with a recipe for them, hoping I have enough time to try it out this week. It just has flour, butter, milk, sugar, salt, and lavender. Also some lavender chocolate fudge for one of my brothers. I am sure to sneak a piece of that.

I have made the chocolate fudge, but never the shortbread cookies. A little goes a very long way.

How wonderful you wandered around the lavender fields 💜 my favourite colour… all shades of purple.
In most of my gardens I always have lavender and dry them and hang them around the house, not only in a wardrobe. Love the smell of it.

So great you got a pass and can visit until the end of the season. ☀️ Hope soon more will bloom.
You must have been happy to see the fountain was all working and clean again 😎
Thank you for sharing your photos and beautiful words @dswigle 🥰
Have an amazing Monday!

Yes! Lavender is so wonderful to hang all over the house. There is no shortage of it here, I am drying a bushel of it right now and most of it is hanging on a line and in every room and wardrobe or closet. Both right now.

I loved that they got me the purple pass and I intend to use it as much as possible for me. It is a small place, but, they have lavender!! So it doesn't matter, right?

The fountain does make me happy, I love the sound of trickling water. I did decide that I would try to bake with the lavender this year. Wish me luck! :) I hope you are having a great day!

Monday! Monday!

Yes, it doesn’t matter how big it is, they got lavender 🥰
Ooo that sounds interesting, trying to bake with it. Good luck Denise hope it will be delicious 😊 are you going to share it with us, the recipe?

I think I can almost smell the lavender from here !

I once had some cookies with lavender in them. They were not over powering, but just a subtle hint of lavender flavor in the background. The cookie was somewhat like shortbread. I liked them and I thought I was determined to make some myself one day, but I never have. Do you ever cook with it in anything? I know sachets would last much longer though. What a happy thing to have pass to go every day if you want.

I know, right? You should have been walking in those lavender fields! It had the most pleasant aroma, truly aromatic and I never tire of it. To me, it gives off a relaxing feeling, just like taking a good nap. Well, I never (I mean never) nap but, if I did, I know it would feel like that! I know that I have never been a nap person, and if I did, I wouldn't sleep that night.

Those cookies sound yummy and shortbread? Yes, please! That is a nice combination.

Wish me luck!

I was thrilled that I was gifted the pass. What a thoughtful gift that was@

I love shortbread and what could be better? I think I have gone lavender crazy. I was actually thinking perhaps a bath with a little bit of lavender in it. Doesn't that sound peaceful?

Perhaps a splash of vino and a good book, or music... or just close my eyes and enjoy the bliss. Hmmmm. I think I have talked myself into it.

It has been an eventful weekend and I am ready to wind down. Wait! Too late, it is already Monday. I am still waiting for the insurance company to call for the next set of contractors, before the next set of contractors. On the bright side, they had to take down part of the ceiling, so they will completely redo that and put a fresh few coats of paint on it.

If I have to look for that silver lining.

Time to quit! Woo-hoo!

I had a pipe burst on Thursday, was actually up most of the night as one of the pipes in one of the bathrooms burst (seriously bust and was spraying everywhere and flooded a bedroom, walking closet, and the ceiling in the walkway out to the laundry room area of the kitchen and garage; all in less than five minutes.) So I had the mitigating people out there for hours and hours... well into the dark of night, so I was doing MarketFriday until 4 am... Two ceilings and all the custom tile in the one bathroom, which means if they cannot find it, they will have to retile the entire shower. and all the trim in the bedroom, walk-in closet, and Part of the garage ceiling. All the insulation in these places is an easy fix... it is all fixable, if not a real pain in the backside. They were back this morning at the crack of 7:30 and will now be back tomorrow morning. They took up all the tiles today as they were still wet underneath, so my insurance screamed mold someday and had them pull them up.
And the beat goes on...

And that isn't even the half of it, but, this too shall pass and there will be sunshine tomorrow... and I will have contractors here for the rest of my life.

Better use something stronger then Lavender after the pipe burst situation 😉

Seriously though I hope all is well 🙏
How is it going now over there?
That’s one of the worst feelings ever I know.

I didn’t realize how recent this was. Ive been behind and thought this was a couple days old post. So prolly not much to update. Well breath deep and say “Serenity Now!!!” Or “321,123 What The Heck Is Bothering Me! “

if u get both references u win a bonus 🥇
I’m pretty sure you’ll get the Seinfeld one. Oh I just gave it away 😂. Anyway my dorky attempt to bring a Laugh to a stressful situation.

Much love 🙌

Haha!!~ Urkel! Family Matters

The mitigation people have finished drying up the place and tomorrow one of the contracters will be here to put the bid in for the ceilings, paint, carpet/padding and painting,,, etc.... Oh and the custom tile that they had to rip up on the bathroom floor. If they cannot find more, they will have to retile the shower too.

Le sigh.

But, I am breathing. :) Thanks for dropping in!

U did know it! Amazing! 321,123 What The Heck is bothering me 🤯

Such a bummer but glad there getting on it quick. I eve had many leak issues here (apartment building) leaks from upstairs and had ceiling done twice. Not quite as frustrating as burst pipe but I feel ya.

Well it won’t fix the damage but here’s some tunes just for u on this Wednesday AM!

Beautiful photos (per normal) and I really like both of the poems. I could use some time away from where everything makes sense.

I sort of do some plant trading. It's not plant for plant with me, but plants for help maintaining a '65 Thunderbird or sharing the dog or something. I have a maniac friend that is a botanist AND gardener searching for the ability to garden in Yuma. He starts his own plants (including native plants) and shares when it's time. I have a glorious tomato that won't bear because it's too hot already and a pepper that is going to give up it's first fruit today. I will take pictures...

Really good to see you Denise!

So good to see you, Tom! @bigtom13 Thank you! You like my poems. That is nice of you to say. :)) I could never get any vegetables to grow in that desert heat, but, especially in Yuma! Cherry tomatoes are supposed to be the ones that do best, but you are totally right on the heat, so it must be over 100 degrees. Kidding. I know it is.

When temps consistently hit the 95-degree range, tomatoes tend to stop producing red pigments, which means typically red fruits may instead ripen to orange. When high heat lingers with days above 100°F and nights over 80°F, most tomato ripening stops altogether.

One of the reasons mine never did well outside of Phoenix. They do say to plant them in February for best results. Yes! You need a cool house instead of a hothouse! Pictures! Yes! We always love the pictures!

I know some of my father's friends wintered in Yuma! I am not sure it ever gets cold there. But, it is a popular place and everyone I know loves it. I'm a New Englander, and yet, the desert has a certain pull... still.

Hiya, Tom!!! How are the new wheels? Are you still camping or waiting out the heat?

No worries, Paul! I realize that your life is so hectic right now... Someday it will be peaceful and boring, which I have to admit, doesn't sound nearly as bad as it used to.

Boring can be good on days that are too busy. I hope all is well with you and things are looking up for you. Catch me up soon! I miss hearing from you!

Have a great day!

The purple pass was a great gift idea and I was happy to see it! I got it for Mother's Day and the Tulip Pass too. All things flowers and that works well for me!

The scent is truly aromatic and is nice to hang in different places in your house. The nice thing is that it is not overpowering... I am going to try to bake with it this week. Stay tuned. LOL

I hope all is well with you, my friend. Life has been almost busier for you in your peaceful retirement! It's good to see you getting out and taking so many pictures of the salt life! :)

I love it!

The only reference I had for the smell of lavender was provided by the chemicals we used in my house to clean the floors and do the laundry. I had never seen or smelled it until a little less than two weeks ago, when I smelled the plant in a garden and asked what plant it was: someone said "lavender". and from there it has become one of my favorite plants. Everywhere I go and see it, I love to smell it. How divine it smells.

What a fascinating farm. I hope you enjoy it from end to end in these summer days.

I will definitely do this:

If you wanted to bring your own picnic basket, you could spread your blanket out under one of the shade trees, ...

Speaking of the word up and I know you weren't... but, if you were, I was reading tonight something that made me laugh. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. Phrasal verbs: one of the most difficult aspects of the english language for non-native speakers. This is one the things I always pay attention when listening to people talking or when I read , because many of there are quite new to me.

Greetings. Have a wonderful week !

It is the truth and one of the reasons I put it. We have the most ridiculous language although I used to have a lot of trouble with other languages figuring out if an object is masculine or feminine. I understand about not understanding.

Lavender is magic, most definitely one of my probably my favorite plants. I will probably be putting together a picnic and going to the farm if it stays this nice. (It is cooler than usual, in a good way!)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hipe you too have a wonderful week!
