Tracking Emergency Sirens in Surrey, BC, Canada

(Edited)

Earlier this year, several of my contacts noticed an increase in emergency sirens at their home city of Surrey in British Columbia, Canada. To investigate this further I proposed we do a short 2 week timeframe of recording all sirens that they overheard.

The locations and results are outlined in the following sections.

Locations

There were 3 general locations being recorded, and by 3 different people.

  1. North Western Surrey
  2. Central Surrey
  3. South Surrey

The map of Surrey can be viewed below.

Results

The results are tabulated below. There were a of total 239 sirens heard by 3 people over a 2 week or 14 day period. More than double of the sirens were from Central Surrey.

The daily trend is plotted below. The weekends tended to have lowest number of sirens, with the 2nd week having higher sirens than the first week.

Further Research

Although these are crude numbers, they nonetheless help serve a baseline measurement timeframe for the 3 general Surrey locations.

We will run this experiment again in the near future when either there appears to be an uptick in sirens or to make predictions based upon major health changes. One such major health change has been the global mandatory vaccinations.

Initially my contacts suspected that many of the sirens were related to adverse vaccine reactions. To test this hypothesis, we will look to start recording again when COVID-19 vaccine boosters become mandatory... So stay tuned!
