Time started running out for me.

I will write about how I got started in cryptocurrencies.

The song goes, I am leaving on a jet plane and I won't be back again.

This is a writ on the new theme; How did you get started in crypotocurrencies ?,in the #silverbloggers community and I encourage all of you to give it a go.

But first, a wee bit here about myself.
On a certain day in April I will be 2 years away from the big 70 years old number. If I make it, I will be the first male in my family to make the number 70. Many of us think about how we will be remembered after we are gone, but that's my worry, as I will live on through my work. Charity work that is.

So how did I get started in cryptocurrencies? Well some friends that care about our work urged me to join a channel called "Tsu" in 2015 as they told me that I could get income for Papillon with my photos.

For those that do not know, I am a part time nature photographer.

Tsu turned out to be something else entirely as it was more about the fun engagement, and photos played a secondary role. I had some 5000+ followers and we chatted our ears off. Set the record for most votes on a post and it was fun all of the way until it's surprise overnight ending.
Sheer bedlam and many of us felt lost and we had no advance warnings.
Fortunately Papillon received the crypto in our wallet, but then I retired from crypto.

For two years I left crypto, but then a new era dawned.

Someone told me how happy they were at a new secure crypto site and after a bit of haggling, I joined hive's predecessor site. Bear in mind that Papillon was struggling and I had to find a way to raise extra income. We didn't have the money to employ a fund raiser and I was (and still am), the only one that raised funds for our charity projects.

Then another bad occurrence took place, as we had a Hard Fork and Hive was born. I say bad, but it was a hidden blessing.
Eventually Hive took off, as it was a struggle in the early days, but all of us here made it work.

So yes, this is for all of the newbies here today. I was and in fact we all were at same place where you are today, but we continued steadfastly and many of us found our way up the Hive ladder over time with endurance and patience. I realized that if I wanted to get anywhere, then I have to allow compounding interest to do it's work and the only way to do that is to Hodl.
A few times on hive now it felt like the sky had no limits.

Crypto is known to be very volatile and it's value floats up and down like a butterfly on a flower bed, but the great thing is that the value in one's wallet continues to grow.
Oh yes there are many dark times in our lives, not only in the crypto world but also in all the other aspects of this thing that we call life.
But it is within each of us to endure the dark times, knowing that the good times will return.
Here below is an example of what I am trying to say.

The light is enfolded in darkness and even the flame of a tiny candle dispels the darkness.

That light is within each of us, and it is our choice to let it shine.
We can moan and groan, or we can do in positivity, as whatever I do, I do in hope. At times I fail, but I don't allow my failures to detract from my mission of leaving Papillon secure after I have departed on my jet plane.
Engagement with other kindred beings of light here on hive, has brought me where I am today and it is in sincere gratitude that I laud all of them.

Money has no personal interest for me, but it is very important for the projects aimed at the poor people that we serve.
So it shall be as it is written.

I'm not offended in any way. Maybe I should comment more often (I certainly should) but sometimes I'm not sure I'll be understood in the right way, so I keep quiet. :)
In any case, I admire your efforts to do good for the progress of the community. And as I said before, you have an extraordinary (natural) sense of composition in photographs.

Maybe just a late discovered talent and I so wish that I had a camera when I was younger, but I was never interested in photography until I was forced to take photos of our charity projects.
Then the bug bit me and I started to take photos of my other love and her name is Mother nature.

We all need that.

Yet just/only a few of us receive that on the Hive blockchain.
I am a person, who live alone with multiple disabilities, nowadays under the local minimum wage in Hungary. I am trying to earn enough money before the next winter (in the next eight or nine months) to buy and live in an RV to avoid having to pay the high rent and the high regular monthly bills. Financially I cannot even afford the rent in the winter on my own.

Today I have around $1082 HBD in savings.
The goal is around $3000 USD, so I need to earn around $1918 HBD before the next winter (in the next eight or nine months) to reach my goal.

Seeing mostly the incoming cents, this sounds close to impossible, but I do not give up.

You are still a puppy and yes the clock is ticking for all of us but you are in crypto and the oldest person I know who has crypto lol. Maybe there are a few others on the chain who keep their age a secret and could be older but what you have done is seriously impressive. Charity work and crypto is something I take my hat off to and seriously think you are an amazing person.

I sometimes sing and play guitar at an acoustic night in our local pub. Leaving on a jet plane is one I do because I love it, and the chords suit my abilities.

It's just amazing what you've done for the Papillon Foundation and the massive legacy you will leave behind one day, not just in a big crypto wallet, but also in what you've done for your charity AND for the cheerful blogs abd fabulous photography you share with us!

You are also an inspiration to us my dear friend and the way that you looked after your mom is text book stuff. If other children can learn to look after their parents in their old age, there would not be so many dumped in old age homes nowadays.

I am truly not worried about a legacy as our work is of prime importance and it is in our prayers that my wallet will help in a great way to allow the work to continue.

Thank you for your kind words, we did what we had to, the day caregivers made it much easier the last 2 weeks, but her suffering was too awful but at least she was in familiar surroundings. I battled to hear her last words to me but realized afterwards that she was saying - "ek gaan nou weg"
She so much wanted to go to her forever home as she said she'd be well again and would be able to walk again! I feel at peace about that, but then something small will open up the floodgates again but remember Mom's favourite saying when dealing with grief - "you have to get on with the job of living" so...like you also say, 'The battle continues'

Ah, you should have named yourself Silver Queen 😊

Believe me when I say the we feel for you my friend. Grief advisors are plenty, but each of us have our own personal grief to cope with in our own ways. To this day some things still remind me of my mom and she died at 50 in a car accident no good bye. My youngest sister died at age 43, also no good bye.
Last week my brother in law died and he was the same age as me, also no good bye. I buried my estranged dad as a stranger, So now of the entire family it is only me and my eldest sister left.

Why I mention all of this is that I am still alive, same as you and we have to use our time wisely.
As they say, life goes on and you and me just have to soldier on.

And you are right. Cryptos are volatile, and like life, they have their good times and bad times. But in the long run, if we hold, we can see the benefit.

For the average person, not on the front line, the least we can do is to support the efforts of folks like yourself that experience the hardships of coping with the hand they have been dealt.

A few years ago I have seen a YouTube video promising 1,000 $ per post and thought I want that too. A couple of weeks later I was happy to get 5 likes and 0.3 $ 😂

You have been in crypto way before I even have known what this is, and you know I still don't know much more, my friend 😉

Even I am in the same camp of the un-knowledged my friend 😉

What a kind wish and yes, our hopes stay inflamed that one day crypto would be the primary financial system, as it is miles better than the banks who we have to pay to keep our money.

Hahaha, that was indeed a great payout if it remains in your memory 🤣

It is a con, as they give minimal interest and then erode the interest with service charges 😥

Crypto is bleeding at the moment and the USA are thinking of banning mining, as they say it uses a lot of power that releases gas equivalent to the size of Italy into the atmosphere.
So we are in for a tough ride.

I don't know if any mining is done in Hive, but another reason for the fall in crypto prices state that it is because of big profit taking. I think that the rich guys are worried about the war.
But like I said we just have to hope and to hang on.

Sad to hear, but the good news is that it is spurring people on to develop alternative fuels.
We heard about a hydrogen development over here and if someone can invent a motor that runs on water, all of our problems will be gone 😉

Yep, it's time for alternative fuels for our cars, and I believe there have been quite a few inventions already but the big oil companies didn't allow them to develop their ideas further.

I believe that now the time is running out for oil use in transport, but I also don't like the idea of millions of electric cars running around on the planet. Earth will become an electrified magnet that will pull in asteroids and we will have to dodge big stones from space.

Water is neutral and the natural way is always better, at least that's what the vegetarians believe, so we will drive vegan cars 🤣 !LOLZ

Ah, so you are also ex tsu? Then you will know exactly what I am talking about.
The new tsu I haven't touched as some friends told me it's a disaster.
Only two of us left in my friend, me an my sister who is two years older than me, so not much left to impress.
