Ranger 6R80: Teardown Week!

IMG-20220820-WA0073.jpg

Well Hello There Fellow Technicians And Hivers!

Time For A Shift.

No pun intended with that but we will be shifting to those automatic transmissions now, thank you!

Well since we're busy with all these tear downs I thought I'd share one of my all time favourites, not by choice but by what we get!
These come from the Ford Ranger's and also the Mazda BT-50's. Quite cool isn't it? That both Mazda and Ford has the same transmission, like exactly so. I can take this and put it in a Mazda straight out of the Ford!
This is from a Ford though, as I stated above!

We get a lot of them in nowadays and with everything going on in the world I doubt we'd be getting parts for all of them when we need them!
I mean here I am still waiting for a clutch for my vehicle! So imagine with these of which their are a great number of.

A worry for another time hey! For now let's tear down!

In Bits And Pieces!

This is veering off the topic a little but I like those!

I had a funny conversation with some uncle the other day, well in truth I was the only one that found it funny because I knew that he doesn't know what he is talking about! Laughs!

The thing he mentioned was "The automatic transmission is so much better because it requires less services because they don't have clutches and all that. Well yeah they don't have a dry clutch, no they have a ton of wet clutches!

Like seven or eight stacks of them! I've never even really went so far as to count them at all but they have a whole bunch of other stuff on top of those as well!

They surely are easier to drive, that much I can give the uncle but in terms of maintenance, well I'd say the uncle just got lucky right?

Take note this is not a how to guide, merely myself talking about the work I do and my thoughts around certain things.

To everyone who made it this far into my post Thank you for the read and the support.

If you found this entertaining or educational please consider a re-blog and up-vote.

Most of all please leave a input in the comments below, whether is good or bad critic I would like to know, whether its your opinion or your way of doing things in a different manner I would like.

Awesome job on your post!

That is definitely one thing that I'm going to try to avoid is rebuilding transmissions....

Laughs I do understand why though.
On the other hand it feels nice being able to learn something away from engines... and still learning in both fields.

Sometimes it's fun 😅🤪

And that would look like absolute craziness. Unless you actually had help and support...

And completing that and getting it to work? Wow.

Here in Venezuela this transmission is mostly seen in the Ford Explorer from 2006 to 2010 and until now is that they are failing.

The times I have worked one of them the customer did not want to replace the torque converter and was hitting the changes, here people do not understand that torque converters are not like in the time of the th 350.
