Social Media Free - 3 Year Anniversary (And Forever To Come!)
Let's cheers to that! 🍾
In May of 2018, I proceeded to permanently delete my instagram account. In september of the same year, I deactivated my Fb. I didn't delete it as I still wanted access to the messenger platform, which I still use to this day. I wish I could break all ties to FB, I really do!
I still remember my exact thought process when I deleted those apps. I knew in my heart of hearts that there was no going back. Simply because I knew that I was not going to miss it! Ironically, Facebook and Instagram had been part of my daily life for quite some time, we're talking a decade! I had heard of social media withdrawal, but lucky me I did not feel that not for one nanosecond.
Living the offline life is just the best thing ever. So much peace. No gossip. No drama. No checking up what anybody is up to. It saddens me to see so many people getting caught up in this comparison game. Social media is nothing more than a big circus. It's a performance act. Nothing serious. The illusion of perfection. People playing the who's got the most perfect online persona game. Spoiler - you'll never win.
And more often than not, the ones who put the more their extravaganza lives and relationship goals on display are the ones who live the most sad lives behind closed doors. And I'm not saying this as a shaming thing, if there's one person who lives a sad existence and is proud to say it it's me! I don't buy into this happiness is the ultimate life goal thing, simply because it isn't realistic. But the difference is trying to make others envy you for living a life that doesn't even exist.
#Lifegoal ain't nothing but an illusion. Nobody has it all figured out. Nobody lives the dream life. It may seem like the perfect life to you, but if you were to live it you'd probably feel differently. Bottom line is people always want what they can't have. The grass is always greener on the other side. (Spoiler alert it's artificial grass!)
So if you choose to delete your social media, more power to you!
And less toxicity and fakeness! Once you go without, there's no going back! At least that's been my experience for the past 3 years. The only thing I regret is not having done it sooner!
Cheers to the next 3!
Congrats on breaking away from social media, I am only on there to spread awareness, but they are literally the enemy. They use the data they take from everyone to build AI to better censor people like myself and to use that data to gain money to make the world a worse place. So cheers to anyone that denies them the data they need.
wow you said it so well! Your presence is much appreciated and makes a difference.
You're out there doing the tough work that too few people do.
For the right reasons, another rare thing in this corrupted money oriented world of ours:P
Thanks much appreciated. Cheers.
