Beginners Setup For Growing (Updated)

Hey Guys!!! hows it going its me again. I didn't really feel like leaving my profile with just one post today. So I decided to show you guys what I have started with here at home.

So the plants in the soil are "Mothers". I started them from seed. The jars you see there are for hydroponics. Every jar I have has been recycled. So pretty much if you eat spaghetti, keep the jars you have left. Also the net pots are made out of recycled yogurt cups as you can see here.

Its best to just recycle everything, then see what you can reuse for projects at home. Another thing that was reused was the lighting. I did a demolition job in the past and the guy running the site said everything was going to get thrown in the garbage and that I could take anything i wanted because it was going into the trash any ways. Soo... I looked around and I saw this lighting set-up that I just HAD to get home.

Even I have to admit I did get pretty lucky with the lighting. Last but not least are the nutrients. I only invested $150 bucks to get started and I ended up getting everything you see here. Keep in mind that you do not need all of this to get started.

I also have pH up & down, I will show the brand in later posts, but pH up & down is important if you are using hydroponic. Another thing you can do to get started with growing is building your own grow box. i have built a couple so far, here are a few pictures to give you guys an idea on how to go about it.

Keep in mind that it is legal to grow in Canada and make sure you follow the guidelines before you start to grow.
with that being said i hope this gives you some idea on how easy it is to start growing and how cost effective it can be.
Have A Good One Folks.

Nice setup! May I mention you also add the weedcash tag. We need more growers for the tag. 😃

@jonyoudyer what up! And I'm gonna go stake my weed, not plants my weedcash lol, and was making sure that my upvotes on other front ends will then give weed to #weedcash posts?

As long as your staked, and its a weedcash post, yes it will. Just be careful, cause some people are using the weedcash tag on non cannabis posts. Hopefully it will all stop soon. I mean like, would someone use the cannabis tag, for a non cannabis post? lol

Hey, LOVE your setup! What is the medium? I've not seen it in ball form. I have little hydroponic units from Aerogarden, but I am not impressed with the miracle gro inserts.🤮 What a steal with the lights!

I do I have one suggestion for you... I just invested in an inexpensive pH meter so I don't need to use disposable pH reading papers, and it also measures temp, light, water level, etc. So much easier! I got a meter to monitor my vermicompost (worms), and realized duh this could work for so many things.

Thank you for sharing your setup! I hope to have my own someday. We can only grow hemp here in Virginia, where I live. Would really love to get some mushrooms going too, but that's a whole other story! Take care.💗

Yea ill be picking up a pH meter some time soon, thank you for the advice. I'm glad you like the set-up, hopefully the laws change soon in Virginia. I was using Miracle gro for a bit, but once I saw the difference with the General Hydroponics series I quickly made the switch. Everything I used is recycled, so I'm sure you have some stuff around the house you can think of using. But any ways have a good day.

Neat, though clear containers will likely accumulate algae which is not ideal. You will wanna wrap in black plastic or something I'd imagine. Though I did like doing my clones in a clear plastic sleeve inside of a solo cup so I could lift it up and check the roots....

Edit I see the blackout or something used in the glass, how do they drain though?

Recycled yogurt net cups is brilliant. I can try that on my outdoor aquaponics. Ideally I'd get away from plastic but only other good option is food grade styrofoam..

The plants develop two types of roots. First type drinks the nutrients in the jars, Second type of roots take in oxygen for the plant. All you have to do is refill the jar once the plant drinks all the nutrients and then its good to go again. I used spray paint to black out the jars, but I was thinking of doing 2 more coats. a white coat for reflectant and a clear coat to protect that paint from scratches.

I absolutely love your recycled, home made little hydro set ups! What a clever and crafty idea. The yogurt cups are so well done, I had to look again when you said you made them. How often do you change the water in your jars?

i just fill the jars when ever they are empty, i just keep track by checking the weight.
