Dolphinhood has been reached! Now what?

It took my around a year and a half, but I finally got where I did want to be!
I can proudly call myself a dolphin in the big steem ocean.
I do know that some only do consider you a dolphin when steemitboard call you a dolphin, so here is the proof!

The numbers

It took me:

  • 787 posts
  • 9329 comments
  • 8373 received replies
  • 11697 upvotes
  • 40112 times being upvoted.

Some fiat investments and some good and bad steem investments.
I could have been here earlier but the dice apps took there part. Not complaining about it, but a fact is a fact!
And of course I do have to thank a lot of people for interacting with me or supporting me! I am not going to write names, because for sure I would forget some. That ones who do deserve my thanks will know it themselves!

It is a complete new blockchain compared to my start!

Well things change and steem has changed a lot in the past 1,5 years. When I did start there was no actifit, no steemmonsters, no gambling dapps and for sure not a lot of different tokens and condensers.
I do had to grow at the start with commenting. I did master that for some time. So thanks to all the bigger accounts who did reward my genuine comments with upvotes.

Now steem has turned into a complete different game. I do feel that interaction is decreasing. That can change again with the different tribes, but still.
The tribes are like the early days of steem and most of them are ruled by a set of whales. They do direct the growth of your account. If you want to become big in a tribe, you will need to be lucky or you will have to invest quite some steem into it!
Not sure if I do want either of those actions! The most of them look more or less like upvote circles! Where the big accounts support each other and trow some small support to the ones out of their circle. Not that I do blame then, because I have done the same on a crypto blockchain different than steem!

I will focus on some of the tribes but not too passionate!

What now?

I will not set a new target. I am even thinking about decreasing my steem activity. In the past 1,5 years I did spend a lot of free time to the steem blockchain. So it is time to get my real life back :).
If I would have set a new target I would continue like I was doing, writing a daily post, commenting and interacting. I do think that I am undergoing some steem fatigue. Also during my last holiday I wasn't so active on Steem and to be honest I didn't miss it a lot. So I did understand that there is life outside the steem blockchain! Yes there is!

So, I will not be so addicted anymore. I will not force myself to write a daily post. I will write if I want to write or do think that I have something meaningful to say!

It would be great if Steem could grow back to it is all-time high! That would be a blast. That would increase the value of my account up to $40K. But with my luck, almost no chance at all that this will happen in the near future!

I for sure will decrease my steem gambling related activities! Not that I am going to stop, but I wont play them anymore to mine tokens. I also revoked all delegations to the gambling dapps besides 1!

I will continue to play steemmonsters, next.colony and drugwars (which still grants you a steem per day if you want).

I also will keep most of my SP to myself. I will not increase my delegations besides to one @ocdb, which I do want to lift to 1K SP delegated! I do want to keep on curating manually for most of my SP.

You know what nothing has changed since I did reach dolphinhood. I am still the same person, I still do have the same feeling about steem and it's tribes, tokens and condensers! Nothing has changed! And it has, I reached my goal and to be honest I am proud of that!

So this is no goodbye but just a hello a little bit less often!

I will still be around. But I will just not force myself anymore to write a daily post.
I still will write annoying, funny, informative and ... comments!

And while I do think that all the tribes are great! I do forsee flagging wars soon on all of them! Just want to stay away from those!

It is not that easy anymore. You will need daily battles and a good phanteon.
If you start now, it will take lots of time to get the upvotes. The upvotes are granted for posting a daily battle to their forum.
You can just sign in with steem connect and see if it works for you or not. drugwars.io is the link.

I know that feeling. Time will indeed tell, but be prepared for both option! Going to 0 or to the moon!

Fairly sure Orca is next. You'll need to double your time and posts for the next two years. Delegate to ore apps and give more time to the chain.

Mmh, becoming Orca is not in the plans :)
That would increasing my account 10 fold, with I do consider impossible.
I was thinking about delegation but I do want to manually curate also. I do delegate to ocd which grant me around 0.3 steem per day.
If you do have suggestions for a delegation, feel free to let me know.

We both thought dolphin was impossible at one stage too but here we are. It just keeps growing through the different apps. It might never happen but I would like to get there someday. Maybe in the next 5 years.

Sounds like we joined at the same time but you have trounced me in terms of getting to dolphinhood but then I haven't bought anything and delegated way too much of my account when I was a small minnow. I've learned to keep as much of my own SP as possible and get some curation going as well.

Yes and with hf21 around the corner, I will be looking to sprinkle more upvotes around and curate the bejesus out of this place!

Still never going to use a bid bot though and enjoying my own experimentation with the platform. Looking forward to the next few months and see if I can knock on the door of dolphinhood. Then I'll be hunting down orcadom... Just may take me a while 😂

I believe Orca is 50K. 500K would make you a whale.

In the beginning I did use bid bots but they gave me a false feeling of appreciation. Now I am lucky that I am allowed to use the ocdb.

That's how I felt with them and then it boosts your rep which now seems pointless as it can just be faked but c'est la vie!

I'm still not sure about ocdb. I think I'm whitelisted to use it as I have been curated a couple of times but I don't know how to use it. Maybe it's best to delegate a little to it?

Using it is simple. Just send steem or sbd to the ocdb account and pit the link of the post as memo.
You can see on thegoodwhales.io if you are whitelisted or not, or just try it out. When not whitelisted you will get refunded.
On the site you can also see the delegators and how much they are earning. I have delegated 1K to them!

Congratulations on reaching Dolphin you know that's a pretty big deal! I think it took about a year and half also. (@whatsup) I just got here earlier. It grows faster as you have more stake. Many don't give credit to the vested inflation and the influence having more stake gives.

Anyway, I remember clearly when your name came up for FutureDolphins and was such a close call. I am glad you made it and welcome to Dolphinhood!

There is still a lot of engagement, it is just condensing.

Congratulations on your new accomplishment!

I too am looking at my delegations and scaling back. I am going to focus on STEEM and one or two SCOT tribes (steemleo)!

I am however going to continue steadily putting in my own money to increase my stake.

You are correct though that picking a tribe that is a successful investment is a bit tricky. Also some tribes may be quite successful from the standpoint of community, but not from the standpoint of investment.

If one of the two tribes you pick will be a success then you did great.
I will use palnet, sportstalksocial, good game and steemleo, depending on what I write.

Those tribes do make it interesting!

Congrats! Surely a well deserved balanced approach going forward. I could not stop until recently but with these prices, it makes me want to continue the grind as Orca becomes more realistic given my ability to buy!

I did try gambling DApps and it was fun but then I realized that the house always wins in the end. And sometimes sooner than you expect...
