Thot in Egyptian Mythology
Hey dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you have a positive start to the new weekend! In this post, I would like to talk about mythology and hope you can expand your knowledge.
Here are some pictures from the waning moon which I recently recorded and I would like to bring closer to the important god Thot from Egyptian mythology who is associated with the moon. Thot is also considered the god of writing or knowledge and he is also considered the creator of the entire writing system and among the writers or scholars he was considered a patron saint and in addition he created the alphabet of the hieroglyphs. He also knows the entire knowledge of humanity and one of his tasks is to protect this and he also connects with the Greek god Hermes and becomes Hermes Trismegistos who is considered the founder of the hermetic teachings and his well-known Tabula Smaragdina is considered one of the cornerstones of alchemy. He is also considered a personification of the moon as well as time and one of his tasks was to control the different phases of the moon and the well-known left eye of Horus, which is also known as the moon's eye, was healed by Thot and since then he is also considered the protective god of the doctors and is appreciated due to the healing properties. You can quickly see how diverse Thot is and he was also associated with magic or occultism and he was considered one of the most important gods in ancient Egypt and is usually depicted as a human figure with the head of an ibis bird and he was revered throughout Egypt and his most important place of worship was hermopolis.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about mythology! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
