Criminal Of The Year

Elon Musk has been elected Time magazine's person of the year 2021. They describe him as a "clown, genius, edge-lord, visionary, industrialist and showman," which in my opinion is only partly correct...

Some critics have named Time's decision to make the Tesla billionaire its person of the year their "worst choice ever." Although I fully understand this sentiment, I must disagree; Time magazine has made it a habit to elect the worst of the worst most of the years since they started electing persons of the year in 1927. And to be fair, the nomination is not an award, but rather a recognition of the person who had the most influence on the main events of the year, for good or ill. Would you believe that Adolf Hitler was elected person of the year in 1938? And if we're talking modern day robber barons, Musk is late to that party, as Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg all preceded him. Nah, Musk isn't the worst choice ever, although he's up there... Here's the full historical list: Time Person of the Year.

So Musk is simply Time magazine's current criminal of the year; nothing new there. I mean almost every American president as well as Queen Elisabeth II, Henry Kissinger and Joseph Stalin have made Time's cover, Stalin twice even. Remember: it's just a recognition of the person who had the most influence, for good or ill. And this year it was again a "for ill" selection. Musk's attitude towards tax, his opposition to unions and his downplaying of the dangers of Covid garnered most of the criticisms, but then again he was praised for his founding of SpaceX, his promoting of alternative energy with his company SolarCity and Tesla, the most valuable car company in the world. Which is all nonsense.

ELON MUSKS AMAZING ‘LOOP’ OPENS!!!

Sure, Tesla is the most valuable car company, but it would be more accurate to say it is the most inflated, the most overvalued; with only 500,000 cars sold last year, Tesla's market value is roughly $2 million per vehicle sold. Which is ridiculous and a sure sign of a market bubble. And Musk did not create Tesla; that were Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Musk actually isn't the genius so many people think he is and hasn't invented anything; apart from SpaceX, all his companies are bought. Not even his initial claim to fame, PayPal, was made by Elon; the final code doesn't contain a single line from Musk and the real programmers had to replace every line of code from his hand, as it was "buggy and clumsy."

And SolarCity... That was a complete failure; the company is effectively bankrupt. And Musk is currently being sued by Tesla shareholders over the company's $2.6 billion acquisition of SolarCity. You see, Musk used $2.6 billion from Tesla to buy SolarCity so he can pretend that company isn't losing money. That's the thing with Elon: he builds nothing, he invents nothing, but he's great at pretending that he's smart and that everything he touches turns to gold. Have we all forgotten about his HyperLoop, the promise of a 45 minute train-ride from New York to L.A.? Or his promises about self-driving cars? Or his promises about electric trucks? I could go on, but none of his own ideas ever bear fruit, again, except for SpaceX.

Musk is a fake and a fraud, and a backstabber to boot; just search the internet and read about how he double-crossed the real founders of all of his companies. But him being elected person of the year by Time magazine is just business as usual. So the outrage over his election, and the reasons for this outrage are... well... too little, too late and not aimed correctly. It's the socioeconomic system that allows narcissist sociopaths like him to float to the top that has to be criticized. But I guess that's too much to ask from mainstream media...

From my perspective, this guy is controlled 'free-thought'.

We're living in some kind of joke world.

His existence and popularity are a testament to the general lack of consciousness and critical thinking ability in the population.

Really?! Person of the year? What a fucking joke.

To all the mainstream-new-wave-troglodytes under the 'free-thinker' sub-category that still subscribe to this leeches psychological kool-aid - quite frankly - I am disappointed.
