.Goodness persevered over evil

Reading through a book filled with the story of my life...

I recently learned about the immense challenges my mother faced while pregnant with me decades ago. At the time, my father had two wives - my biological mother and a jealous stepmother. This stepmother tried aggressively to prevent my birth simply because I was male and she feared I would inherit my wealthy father's estate over her own four daughters. Her schemes to induce a miscarriage through witchcraft and deception nearly succeeded. Thankfully, my mother's prayers and perseverance ultimately allowed me to be born safely against difficult odds.

As the story goes, my father was a prosperous businessman capable of affording two wives, which was accepted in their culture. His first wife bore four daughters but no sons. My mother became the second wife later on and soon became pregnant with me.

My impending birth as the family's only male heir immediately spawned resentment in the first wife, despite her previously warm rapport with my mom. She enlisted witches to curse my mother and cause a miscarriage, though their dark magic rituals all mysteriously failed.

Still determined, the stepmother concocted a plan to trick my mom into eating food laced with abortive herbs. Thankfully, my mother sensed the dish was tainted upon first bite and ceased eating it, protecting me. For months, this jealousy and scheming persisted as I grew in the womb, but none succeeded.

It seemed I simply would not be denied life, despite numerous murderous plots trying to prevent my birth. My mother says she could sense me actively clinging to life and health inside her during her seventeen month pregnancy. Her instincts told her I was meant to become someone who would help many someday.

So she prayed fervently for divine protection until I was finally born healthy and whole after an excruciating multi-day labor. My father celebrated proudly, supposedly ending his first wife's hopes permanently. And I have lived what I feel is a very purposeful life ever since, just as my mother predicted!

While disturbing to accept, knowing the adversity surrounding my path into this world only intensifies my motivation to live meaningfully and make the most of my gifted time. I often remind myself that so many forces converged in destiny's favor just for me to be here today against the odds. With that truth held close, I feel anything is possible still!

Under the shroud of night, the stepmother met secretly with the witch coven at an altar lit by black candles and adorned with sinister fetishes. The witches chanted ominous spells in ancient tongues to curse the unborn boy and banish him from the womb.

They held bone-chilling séances to commune with dark spirits and bid them possess the mother's body to force a miscarriage. Ominous rumbling sounds preceded their ghostly attempts to invade her essence. The witches brewed vile potions of bone, blood and bile to induce abortion when ingested, but she never touched the toxins.

Through it all, the mother sealed herself in prayer nightly to ward off the malevolent forces summoned against her pregnancy. With incense burning, she prayed for light to surround and protect the child from all directions. She envisioned a cocoon woven with the glowing strands of her pleas that shielded the boy from harm.

The stepmother raged each dawn when her latest scheme failed to prevent the child's growth. But the mother's unwavering faith in divine providence proved stronger than the dark spells hurled at her belly. Goodness persevered over evil, just as the baby clung stubbornly to life.

I am really grateful for my mummy and how she was able to fight all through carry me in her stomach.what she passed through because of me always make me cry whenever I remembered want she had gone through. I love you mummy.

Today my stepmother is no more and I have come to realize that everything in life is vanity ,we should just make sure we are good in all we do .

After reading the book my mummy wrote ,I could not hold my tears but I thank God for life

Thank you for reading my post.

It was an experience that would make a great story. The fight of good and evil, life over death. Incredible that people with such dark souls exist and do evil to others. Your mother is a hero by protecting you from all that surrounding evil, she is truly a being of light.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Good day.

Within the context of your life, this is an impressive story. It reveals a culture that many would find surprising. The effort to sabotage your birth is startling.

There are some issues with the piece. You mention in the end that your mother wrote this down in a book. It would be better to have that sentence at the beginning of the story. Then we would realize the events are told from your mother's perspective. Also, while the incantations meant to harm you are part of your experience, and therefore legitimately included in the piece, some material doesn't make sense. For example, a seventeen-month pregnancy puts the story in the realm of fantasy. While this is creative nonfiction and you are allowed to embellish, in order for it to be nonfiction it has to be believable.
