Que mejor figura representativa que la Mujer, la mestiza que conjuga la raza blanca con la negra haciendo éxtasis de la mezcla de dos culturas.

La mujer trae en su rostro las marcas de los años, de las tristezas, las risas, lo trabajado y lo abnegado de su vivir.

Su andar libre por los puertos que un día fueron testigos de la llegada de sus ancestros cuando eran traídos a consecuencia de la colonización.

Hoy se pasean libres por esos puertos, me imagino los recuerdos de las historias contadas, las vividas, el aire fresco del mar, el olor a salitre y el sol que no es tan feroz como antes porque siempre hay una nube cómplice que la cubra.

Por mucho correr del tiempo, aún mantienen sus raíces, su color cobrizo alcanzado por el sol, el espíritu de alcanzar su emancipación, siendo madres, trabajadoras, amas de casas y administradoras innatas.

Después de los años solo les queda mirar con desdén el cielo empedrado, el mar, un barco a lo lejos que recuerda que pudo ser quien traslado a sus antepasados y el puerto que le abrió el paso a un nuevo mundo.

El mundo impensando donde serían los protagonistas de dar su descendencia a la nueva tierra donde debían sobrevivir y coexistir dando una nueva raza, la mestiza.

Empezaron una nueva vida sin hogar, abandonadas a su suerte, sin posibilidades de educación ni trabajo , deambulando, sometidas a ser mucamas, nodrizas y al trabajo agrícola.

Me trae el recuerdo de una Cecilia Valdés, una mestiza que supo darle un giro a esa clase social discriminada y rechazada por la clase social más alta pero codiciada por la tez de su piel.

No matter how much time has passed, they still maintain their roots, their copper color reached by the sun, the spirit of achieving their emancipation, being mothers, workers, housewives and innate administrators.

After the years they can only look with disdain at the cobblestone sky, the sea, a ship in the distance that remembers that it could have been the one that transported their ancestors and the port that opened the way to a new world.

The world unthinking where they would be the protagonists of giving their offspring to the new land where they had to survive and coexist giving a new race, the mestizo.

They began a new life without a home, abandoned to their fate, without opportunities for education or work, wandering, subjected to being maids, wet nurses and agricultural work.

It brings back the memory of Cecilia Valdés, a mestiza who knew how to change that social class that was discriminated against and rejected by the highest social class but coveted for the complexion of her skin.
