Busy Bees Definition

The Busy Bees is an Activity group that focuses on Posting and Engagement and reciprocal growth. We started out as a local group and then became an international group as we started collecting friends and acquaintances on Hive to be what it is today!

What are we?

On the Hive blockchain the terms Whale, Orca, Dolphin, Minnows and Redfish are well known terms.

Well, we are a multi-species school/pod that together are as powerful as a whale!

The vision was always to have 100 active members in this group. Currently, based on the last The Busy Bees 2024🐝🐝🐝 Progress Report Week 26 we are:
3 x Orcas
22 x Dolphins (On the next report it will be 24 Dolphins as two of us have gone up from Minnow)
29 x Minnows (Which will be 27 as mentioned above)
21 x Redfish

This is a total of 75 Accounts and together we are 610,559HP and growing!

On Hive you need about 581,507HP to become a Whale. There are only 40 Whale Accounts on Hive.

The Busy Bees together are a little bit stronger yet, but if we were one account, it would count as 39th in HP!

What do we do for each other?

Support and encouragement.

We might get a voting trail going but the whole reason I have so many people in this activity group is so that there is a multitude of different people with different interests, all over the work.

This means that you should find someone on the group here that makes it interesting for you.

We will be doing certain sorts of engagement activities in the future, right now I really want to get the Busy Bees up to the level that I had envisioned! The 100 strong!

We have 25 Spots left

After the 25 spots have filled up, I shall need to move all inactive accounts off the Busy 100 list and put them into a different designation. There are some accounts that have been dormant and have been left on the group to count as milestones for people who are growing around them.

I have set my sights for a long time on other Minnows and checked my progress against that.

The spots that I have left are in a spread across the levels to keep it more or less even. But I know that with time... all our Redfish will grow up to be Minnows on THIS team... and who knows... all of them may become Dolphins one day too!

When all my Redfish grow up, I will make a Busy Bee Redfish Squad. But that's some time away.

But this is what I am looking for right now:

10 x Active and Posting Redfish!
8 x Active and Posting Minnows!
8 x Active and Posting Dolphins!
4 x Active and Posting Orcas!

Then we would have 5 spots left for any of the levels.

Reciprocal Growth!

Since I have started the Busy Bees, so many Redfish have become Minnows, and so many Minnows have become Dolphins.

It is no secret that as you gain HP, your vote value goes up and therefore your curation rewards go up. And if some of your votes go to the Busy Bees who you interact with most, then some of your stake will be help another person grow, who in turn supports you and helps you grow your account.

With 100 people giving each other a portion of their attention is a powerful thing.

Let us band together and make more Minnows out of Redfish and more Dolphins out of Minnows and possibly even some Orcas out of our Dolphins too!

I am looking for more Busy Bees!

Do you have what it takes to be a Busy Bee?
Do you blog regularly?
Do you keep a fair amount of engagement going?
Would you like to join us and grow?

Then leave me a comment as a request to join!

Thank you for reading!

Cheers!

A Redfish! Welcome. I definitely want some more Redfish in the group so we can help you built and advance.

For that to happen, I shall have to ask you to make sure you post at least once a week, though 3-4 times a week would be far more successful for you!

Thankyou I’m very grateful I will definitely post once a week but will try to do more than that. I really want to build and advance on hive so I look forward to taking any pointers

Thanks for all the work you've been doing on this @zakludick ! It's truly inspirational.

I had a crazy idea the other night. I haven't done the maths on it yet, so I've got idea if it's practical. It also needs serious buy-in and commitment from a significant percentage of BusyBees, especially the higher HP ones.

The idea would be called "Make A Minnow". It would pick either the most active Redfish, or the highest HP active one (not sure which). They'd commit to (say) a minimum of 5 posts a week. We'd all add that person to our Favourites list and commit to upvoting each of their posts 100%.

The Redfish would, in return, upvote the posts of the people voting for them, and also commit to joining in the upvotes for the next person picked to be made a minnow. While it's less in terms of vote power, it's a mark of appreciation, but the curation rewards would also help boost their HP.

I'm wondering what kind of timescale would be needed to push someone up a rank and if an intensive effort like this would help drive growth of the community as a whole. I appreciate it's a significant commitment from all involved !

And no, I don't think we're big enough yet to go the next level and "Do A Dolphin" 😁

That's not crazy at all!

Although what we need to do is really convince all of our Redfish to become super active!

We should all be on the lookout for their posts and if they post consecutively, a decent amount of times per week, they should unlock good support from us!

Its a grand idea!

I also tossed about the idea of "mentor groups" where each of us takes in a small squad of people to mentor at a time and guide to growing up!

I like the idea of mentor groups - or maybe create "Redfish Pools" where Hivers all at around the same level can mutually encourage each other and travel together as they rise up through the rankings. That way, it's not dependent on a single mentor - I know it would be an issue with me if I was mentoring, because there are times when this "real life" thing gets crazy and I just disappear for a week or two with no warning !

Well... the advantage of a dedicated mentor(s) to a particular Redfish is making sure that they are SOMEONE's responsibility instead of just being anyone's responsibility which usually in a group means that either nobody takes responsibility or one person does 95% of the work.

!LOL

!LOL good point....

I've spent far, far too much of my life taking responsibility. It's like every time I join an organisation it's like "You ! You're taking responsibility. We're making you an officer. Have some more responsibility, whether you like it or not !"

I'd like to be irresponsible for a bit now, I've worked hard for it, I've earned it 😁

Well, how about you take on a role that stands beside the "squads".

If we had a few mentor groups: ie a mentor and a few mentees each, you can still be involved with the groups and pop your head in wherever you deem necessary.

You are already doing the 2x HSBI sponsorships every week for the Redfish, so the community is grateful for that. You also started the Busy Bees community account, so perhaps there is something more "event" orientated that you can do that requires once a week or twice a month interaction instead of the daily like the Mentor groups will have to be!

Sounds like a plan ! I really should work out how to get the community actually active and persuade everyone to come over there to post their ideas. Maybe use it for weekly training prompts or something once we've got the redfish groups set up.

Absolutely! We should do that.

You can log in as the community right?

I think I can too... I should have the keys somewhere.

Yep - I go in as the community user (hive-184600) whenever I remember to and go around upvoting people - it's only a tiny amount, but it helps build the account up.

The way Hive sets up communities seems slightly odd, and I'm still trying to get my head around some aspects of it ! hie-184600 is the owner, which is an account it created for me when I created the community. Then (as hive-184600) I gave Admin status to you and me (as the Alonicus account). I think if either of us posts, it shows it as our account but with an Admin badge, but I'm also able to post as the owner, and from memory I think you've got a set of the owner keys as well.

In terms of account value I've got a 100HP delegation to it, and donated 10HP to it a few HPUD's ago. But I haven't posted other than an intro post, so the account is worth a glorious 12.742 HP, but votes as 116HP thanks to the delegation.

But there are quite a lot of aspects of running a community that I haven't sussed out yet ! If you've got access to the wallet, we should probably agree how the funds are to be used, and if we ever with draw from it, how it's split. 😀

Indeed. I mean... it's a whole 12HP now... but I guess we should set some ground rules because later on it may be worth 1000HP and beyond and there must be a guideline or "constitution" for how it is run that may live on beyond us.

The main focus of its accumulation would be the support of the growth of the community I am sure.

We are never going to get everyone to donate equal amounts to it. So it's probably best that the community account pays you back eventually. This is to make the account as neutral as possible.

Is that good so far?

That works for me ! My total investment so far is 10HP donated, plus the original 3 HIVE setup cost. At today's prices, that's the square root of naff all in fiat value, and worth every penny if it helps people grow, so I'm not too worried about it 😀

I've converted the HBD it's earned so far into HP, but in the longer term I could see earning HBD interest as a great way to sustainably fund community initiatives. The account's HP is probably best used by setting up a BusyBees curation trail once it's got some kind of vote value. If it earns any Tribe tokens, they could probably be turned into SWAP.HIVE and then HP, but do you think we should make an exception for LEO or any of the tipping tokens ?

I'm not sure how to change the voter name from hiver-184600 to a BusyBees one, but I'd love to do that because then it would show the community where their support is coming from. Being cheeky, we could maybe suggest to those who don't actively curate to delegate it some HP, since that's the main use for the HP they're sitting on !

Indeed. Delegate or set up that curation trail as mentioned. That way everyone's accounts at least earns curation even if they are idle.

Yeah, the account can go for HBD later. Right now we should probably focus on getting it to Minnow level at least first...

Post at LEAST once a week. That's all I would really like to see.

It is suggested that you can probably find someone in the 100 members in the Busy Bees to upvote and interact with since we are all very different people. @melinda010100 is there, so this should be easy. Quite a few.

Just look at my blog and find the last Busy Bees post and check the members list!
