Blogging - Dealing with Burnout/Writer's Block/Starting anxiety on Hive
Good day everyone! This post is for those people who find themselves in a slump, for whatever reason.
It is there for my Hive newbies that I have recently on-boarded who do not know what to write about and are anxious to start and it is there for my friends who are Hive veterans who have fallen to burnout and/or writer's block and can't seem to get back up again!
Anxiety to start, Writer's Block and Burnout are usually caused by factors outside of writing. You might have started your account and thought about all the things you will or could Blog about and then struggle to find the motivation to start.
You could be a veteran who has posted dozens, hundreds or even thousands of posts on Hive and in many community groups.
Whatever the case, I am sure that as you are a living and breathing human being that you have a plethora of interests and hobbies. Outside of hobbies and past times, you have your profession and beyond that, you have your geographical location.
This means that there is always SOMETHING to blog about.
However, let us quickly assess the problem: Writer's Block/Burnout/Anxiety does exist. You sit before your PC, or sometimes even avoid it, because of the stress in your mind. The mind curls up in a little ball, unwilling to co-operate.
You find your inspiration has run dry, or that you have no focus, no concentration or you have no discipline and find yourself distracted by any little thing.
You feel too tired, or sleep deprived... even though you had just had sleep. You feel that you should rather spend time watching a movie or playing a game but in the back of your head you wish that you could create, write, post and earn.
So we have established now that these problems exist and that they are real.
Let's talk about solutions!
The most obvious solution: Writing topic.
It is easier to write about what you love.
Simply put, if you are not interested in what you are writing about, then even if you write beautifully, you will struggle to maintain enthusiasm to write about it.
If you write about your interests then it will be more fun to write about them.
On Hive, you CAN write about any subject. You CAN write about your passions and find like-mined souls and have a great experience on Hive. There is no need to pander to any specific group on this platform.
Take it step by step. Have a plan.
The next solution is that when I am stuck, I draw up a plan.
If I do not know what to write about, I get out a notepad and I write down topics that I could write about. Things that happened. Stories connected to things I saw. That kind of thing.
Then all I need to do is to follow each step.
If we find ourself discouraged then remember this: The best way to get something done, it to get started.
You can save a draft and carry on later on.
But you can select the community your post goes into. Give the post a title, which you can change later on.
After that, put some opening words on the post. Now you can save the draft and you made a start! You have conquered the first step and you are no longer idle.
You could also load up an image or images, that is another step done.
You can then add in your footer and closing statement.
By this time, the ball is rolling and you might find that it is easier to actually just continue writing! Just do what is next on the list and do not worry about the end result or the overall plan for the day/week/month/year.
Step by step, you will succeed and before you know it - you have written a post!
Have a great day out there! Thank you for reading my post and do the next item on the list!
Cheers!
