Vegvísir - to help the bearer find it's way through rough waters.

Zzzzzzzz goes the tattoo gun, How I missed that buzzing sound. It's been 3 years since I had my last tattoo. I'm sentimental and often too emotional which sometimes leads to impulsive life choices, like my tattoos for example.

My first one was from 2017, after going through an episode of depression when my long term relationship ended after a guy cheated on me and left me pregnant then went MIA, I got myself the Arrow with Semi Colon Tattoo.

I just wanted something to remember how I was able to get through that situation. Just like how an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward, no matter how life dragged me during those difficult times, I know I was meant to overcome this and come back stronger, my arrow will launch me to something greater, and the semi colon - cause, it's not yet the end of my story.

My next tattoo was from 2018. Somewhat I got lost in the way, I knew what my goals were, I knew where I wanted to be but I felt stuck and lost every now and then. Those were the dark times, I was self sabotaging, that's when I got my Vegvisir.

The word Vegvísir means ‘wayfinder’ and ‘sign post’ in Icelandic language. It's a viking symbol of guidance and protection - To help the bearer find it's way through rough water. This is by far my favorite one.

Then my friend jokingly said, how will you see the map if it's tattooed on your back. Lol

My last tattoo was from 2019. This one doesn't have a sad story, but rather a funny one. We were out drinking with my friends and one of them is a tattoo artist, he was still working on his craft back then, not that much exposure nor tattoo shop experience, he was just getting started. We had a few drinks and decided to have a tattoo and since I'm an impulsive, yes attitude person - I went to get one. I didn't know what to get but since I like cats and the moon so why not tattoo it on my body lol so that's the story behind The Cat and Moon.

I didn't pay a cent for my last tattoo, it was more of a practice session for my friend. The lines were quite crappy and not that sharp but no regrets, it was a fun experience and I'm just proud that he is now a great tattoo artist and was even featured recently by Manila Bulletin on his piece in honor of the Queen.
