Report No121. Park of Gatchina Palace (part 2). Отчёт о поездке № 121. Парк Гатчинского дворца (2 часть)

Hello to all my readers! Today I continue my story about the landscape park of the great Gatchina Palace. I was there with my daughter last August and I still keep all those pictures to tell you interesting stories about the places I saw.

ONLINE REFERENCE: The Palace Park in Gatchina has an area of 143 hectares. This is the oldest park in the Gatchina landscape park complex. It was broken up under Count G. G. Orlov at the end of the XVIII century. The park area borders the Menagerie, the Forest Priory Park and Sylvia, which are also part of the complex of historical Gatchina parks.

After Count Orlov died, Catherine granted the Gatchina Palace to her son Pavel, the future Russian imperator. I must say that Pavel grew up in rather Spartan conditions and loved this place with all his heart.

If we touch a little on the personality of Paul himself, he really liked the image of his great-grandfather, Peter I. He tried in every possible way to be like him, which is probably why since childhood Pavel loved to arrange mock battles between different groups of participants in these massacres.

There are two lakes in the park of the Gatchina Palace, which were later connected by a whole system of channels and channels. As I wrote earlier, there are still remnants of wooden piles and bridges along the banks. Here Pavel and his faithful companions staged real naval battles on boats and sailing canoes, preparing themselves for future naval battles.

I took a lot of beautiful landscape photos in the park. My daughter and I did not take seeds and nuts with us in vain in the hope of feeding squirrels and birds here. Nuthatches and tits willingly sit down right on the palm of your hand. A little later, I will post a post with photos of my daughter feeding squirrels.

There are a lot of small bridges here. This is understandable, because the whole park is riddled with channels. Bridges are made for the convenience of moving along the paths, so as not to make unnecessary circles around the park. And the spaces for walking here are really big.

Unfortunately, not all sections of the park are accessible to visitors. I do not know, perhaps some restoration work is currently underway there, because from one bank I saw some building structures and partitions in that part of the park, which was just inaccessible that day

There are also quite a few visitors here now. Despite the tourist season, there are no visitors from Europe coming here now, and tourists from the east usually come to St. Petersburg in spring and in the first half of summer.

Tomorrow we will reach one of the most beautiful pavilions located on the shore of the lake. I'll show it from the outside and from the inside. There are still a number of interesting places in this park ahead of us. And that's it for today!

Привет всем моим читателям! Сегодня я продолжаю свой рассказ о пейзажном парке большого Гатчинского дворца. Я был там с дочкой в прошлом августе и до сих пор храню все те снимки чтобы рассказывать вам интересные истории об увиденных местах.

СПРАВКА ИЗ СЕТИ: Дворцовый парк в Гатчине имеет площадь 143 гектара. Это старейший парк в комплексе гатчинских пейзажных парков. Он разбит при графе Г. Г. Орлове в конце XVIII века. Парковая территория граничит со Зверинцем, лесным Приоратским парком и Сильвией, которые тоже входят в комплекс исторических Гатчинских парков.

После того, как не стало графа Орлова, Екатерина пожаловала Гатчинский дворец своему сыну Павлу, будущему российскому импрератору. Надо сказать, что Павел рос в довольно спартанских условиях и всем сердцем полюбил это место.

Если немного коснуться личности самого Павла, ему очень нравился образ своего прадеда, Петра I. Он всячески старался быть на него похожим, видимо поэтому с самого детства Павел любил устраивать шутейные баталии между разными группами участников этих побоищ.

В парке Гатчинского дворца есть два озера, которые позже были соединены между собой целой системой протоков и каналов. Как я уже писал ранее, здесь по берегам до сих пор сохранились остатки деревянных свай и мостков. Здесь Павел со своими верными соратниками устраивал настоящие морские сражения на лодках и парусных челнах, подготавливая себя к будущим морским сражениям.

Я сделал очень много красивых пейзажных фотографий в парке. Мы с дочкой не зря взяли с собой семецек и орешков в надежде покормить здесь белок и птиц. Поползни и синицы охотно садятся здась прямо на ладонь. Чуть позже я сдалаю пост с фотографиями, где дочь кормит белок.

Здесь очень много небольших мостов. Это и понятно, ведь весь парк пронизан протоками. Мосты сделаны для удобства передвижения по дорожкам, чтобы не делать лишних кругов по территории парка. А пространства для прогулок здесь и вправду большие.

К сожалению не все участки парка доступны для посетителей. Я не знаю, возможно сайчас там идут какие-то реставрационные работы, потому что с одного берега я увидел какие-то строительные конструкции и перегородки в той части парка, который как раз был в тот день недоступен

Также сейчас здесь довольно мало посетителей. Несмотря на туристический сезон, гостей из Европы сейчас сюда не приезжает, а туристы с востока обычно приезжают в Петербург весной и в первой половине лета.

Завтра мы доберёмся до одного красивейшего павильона, расположенного на берегу озера. Я покажу его снаружи и изнутри. Впереди нас ждёт ещё целый ряд интересных мест в этом парке. А на сегодня у меня всё!
