The shadows of night now envelop my sorrow,
Like winds of mourning envelop my wretched soul.
This strange and sad world to which I am now chained
Offers no solace, only loud loneliness.
My hands clutch the emptiness where warmth once was,
My eyes filled only with longing so sharp.
Cold seeps through flesh instead of love,
As discontent and anguish seize my muteness.
I fear no one will notice when life has flown,
And I alone must inhabit the shadows of death.
One night like this the light of love began to moan,
And slowly, grudgingly, its last died too.
So I flee here seeking to numb my plight,
If only for hours I would forget my painful plague.
