Open Doors and Open Heart
Image
My door stands open wide as evening falls
Hoping your step will come to answer my call
But if in your heart I hold no warmth or grace
Then speak no honeyed words that time cannot erase
For I shall write your name upon the shore
And trust each wave that breaks to wash it o'er
Till in the sand and in my soul as well
No trace or thought of you shall e'er dwell
This sorrow I will strive with patience to outlive
And throw off chains my willing heart did give
When in your eyes such joy and promise shone
But if your love is gone, I'll dwell here alone
The door may close, my heart heal in good time
As sand and seawork their sweet rhyme
