Aviones bajo la lluvia / Planes in the rain

Hola caminantes de los miércoles:

En el Aeropuerto José Martí no hay vistas para ser desaprovechadas. Todo su interior es tan poco común de lo que vemos a diario en nuestras vidas, que llama la atención y dedeseos de compartir con quienes no tienen acceso a este panorama visual habitualmente.

Yo andaba en funciones de trabajo, pero no pude evitar hacer estas tomas que me cautivaron y llevaron a pensar en cuántas personas se trasladan a diario en estos grandes pájaros metálicos.

Hello Wednesday walkers:

At José Martí Airport there are no views to be missed. Everything inside is so unusual from what we see every day in our lives, that it catches the eye and makes us want to share it with those who don't usually have access to this visual panorama.

I was on work duty, but I couldn't help but take these shots that captivated me and led me to think about how many people move around in these big metal birds every day.

¿Cuántos procesos van involucrados de manera sincronizada para que todo funcione correctamente y en tiempo para cumplir con la hora de salida y de llegada de un vuelo? Muchas veces se hace trasbordo, por eso es tan importante la puntualidad, además que aquí va implícito el prestigio de la línea aérea y de sus trabajadores.

How many processes are involved in a synchronised way so that everything runs smoothly and on time to meet the departure and arrival time of a flight? Many times there are transfers, which is why punctuality is so important, as well as the prestige of the airline and its employees.

Llueve y caen gotas sobre el lente de mi teléfono que no se queja de presenciar esta delicia y salpicarse con la humedad del día. Un oleaje blanco se eleva al paso de los trenes de aterrizaje cuando tocan sobre el asfalto de la pista por donde se deslizan.

En colores diferentes y con las banderas identificativas de cada país, van bailando como flores: unos que llegan y otros que se van. Un sonido muy fuerte emana de sus motores, mientras calientan antes de que el señalero le da la orden de salida.

It rains and drops fall on the lens of my phone, which doesn't complain about witnessing this delight and being splashed with the humidity of the day. A white ripple rises as the landing trains pass over the tarmac of the runway where they glide.

In different colours and with the identifying flags of each country, they dance like flowers: some arriving and others leaving. A very loud sound emanates from their engines as they warm up before the signalman gives the order to depart.

Ver todo este movimiento de aeronaves puede causar confusión y a veces un poco de miedo, pues nadie quiere que ocurra un accidente ni en tierra ni mucho menos en el aire. Por eso le doy mucho valor a los controladores aéreos, pues como los pilotos, son los responsables de lo que ocurra con la aeronave y sus pasajeros.

¿Sabías que los aviones cargan el combustible en sus alas? Aquí va almacenado el alimento que los hace moverse. Un camión cisterna le suministra el líquido a través de una manguera.

Todo un privilegio es ver despegar o aterrizar a una aeronave. Me resulta interesante cómo toneladas de metal, combustible, y carga adicional de transporte se puede elevar al cielo en cuestiones de segundo.

Seeing all this movement of aircraft can cause confusion and sometimes a bit of fear, because nobody wants an accident to happen, neither on the ground nor in the air. That is why I value air traffic controllers, because like pilots, they are responsible for what happens to the aircraft and its passengers.

Did you know that aircraft carry fuel in their wings? This is where the food that makes them move is stored. A tanker supplies the liquid through a hose.

It is a privilege to see an aircraft take off or land. I find it interesting how tons of metal, fuel, and additional transport cargo can be lifted into the sky in a matter of seconds.

Hay personas que no les gusta viajar en avión, por los malestares que puede provocar de mareos o dolor de oídos por el cambio de presión debido a la altura. También los accidentes aéreos son fatales y esto causa temor en los viajeros.

Lo cierto es que el avión es el medio de transporte más seguro, pues los porcentajes de accidentes así lo demuestran en comparación con los otros medios de transportscion existente. En mi caso, no tengo miedo de viajar en ellos y me siento muy segura cuando lo hago, excepto cuando atraviesa una turbulencia y me pone con los pelos de punta y el estómago borracho de mareo.

Some people don't like to travel by plane, because of the discomfort that can be caused by dizziness or earache due to the change in pressure caused by the altitude. Airplane crashes are also fatal and this causes fear among travellers.

The truth is that the aeroplane is the safest means of transport, as the accident rates show in comparison with other means of transport. In my case, I am not afraid to travel in them and I feel very safe when I do, except when it goes through turbulence and makes my hair stand on end and my stomach drunk with dizziness.
