All by Myself - Eric Carmen (Cover) [ENG/SPA]

Welcome to my music blog. I share with you my trumpet interpretation of “All by Myself”, a romantic ballad composed by Eric Carmen. I have had the opportunity to listen to versions by Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and in Spanish with Ricardo Montaner. Also Charice Pempengco's with David Foster. The song is based on the second movement of Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Opus 18 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The lyrics are about loneliness and isolation. The melody is haunting and melancholic. The harmony is in the key of C minor, and is based on an I-IV-V progression. It is very simple, but at the same time elegant. The rhythm is simple and sober, with a 4/4 time signature and a moderate tempo. In my case, I play it in G# minor and the most important challenge is to play some low notes, such as the F Sharp, which is the lowest note in the trumpet register. It should be noted that lower notes can be played and are called pedal notes, these are outside the register of this wonderful wind instrument.

Bienvenidos a mi blog musical. Les comparto mi interpretación con la trompeta de «All by Myself», una balada romántica compuesta por Eric Carmen. He tenido la oportunidad de escuchar versiones de Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, y en español con Ricardo Montaner. También la de Charice Pempengco con David Foster. La canción está basada en el segundo movimiento del Concierto para piano n.º 2 en do menor, Opus 18 de Sergei Rachmaninoff. La letra trata sobre la soledad y el aislamiento. La melodía es inquietante y melancólica. La armonía se encuentra en la tonalidad de C menor, y se basa en una progresión I-IV-V. Es muy sencilla, pero a su vez elegante. El ritmo es simple y sobrio, con un compás de 4/4 y un tempo moderado. En mi caso, la interpreto en G# menor y el reto más importante es tocar algunas notas graves, como por ejemplo el Fa Sostenido, que es la nota más grave dentro del registro de la trompeta. Cabe destacar, que se pueden tocar notas más graves y se llaman notas pedales, estas están fuera del registro de este maravilloso instrumento de viento.

Music can be a cure for loneliness by providing us with companionship and connection to experiences and other people. When we feel alone, music can help us express our emotions and feel less isolated. It can also help us feel understood and accepted, even when we have no one to talk to. There are so many songs with which I feel identified, these tell things that I live every day. It is important to find our purpose and connect with God. Personally, I have found comfort in God and music. I think there is not a day in which I do not listen to music. From early on I get up and listen to inspiring music. So my day starts on the right foot, and with a positive attitude. Music heals and complements the soul.

La música puede ser una cura para la soledad al proporcionarnos compañía y conexión con experiencias y otras personas. Cuando nos sentimos solos, la música puede ayudarnos a expresar nuestras emociones y a sentirnos menos aislados. También puede ayudarnos a sentirnos comprendidos y aceptados, incluso cuando no tenemos a nadie con quien hablar. Hay tantas canciones con las cuales me siento identificado, estas cuentan cosas que vivo a diario. Es importante encontrar nuestro propósito y conectarnos con Dios. Personalmente, he encontrado consuelo en Dios y en la música. Creo que no existe día en el cual no escuche música. Desde temprano me levanto y escucho música inspiradora. Entonces mi día comienza con el pie derecho, y con una actitud positiva. La música sana y complementa el alma.
