Giving a part of yourself: Teacher/Cooperating Teacher

Being a teacher is not just doing your job but giving a part of yourself.

I have been teaching for four years in public. When I enter the service I thought my job was only to teach the children but it was not just a mere teaching. It is teaching with a heart meaning whatever the need of the students you want to provide. At times it slip in my mind that if only I am a millionaire, I can and will provide for the students. Truly teaching is a noble profession.

At this point I am not just teaching students but I am doing the mentoring for the aspiring teachers. Yes I am a cooperating teacher from one of the state colleges here in our province. There were four interns or student teachers under me.
My task is to help them with their lesson plans and in carrying out their lessons. So for me to know how to handle them, I need to know them first. I build rapport with them by having conversation with them not just a normal interview. So I think for us to be effective in any way we need to have knowledge on what we are facing.

As the days go by, I observed many of their classes and had feedbacking every time they finished their demonstration teaching. In giving feedbacks I do not sugarcoat my words, I made them hear what they needed to hear for them to grow. I also make sure that they understand why they are hearing it.
