An Exceptional Movie that I DO NOT recommend / Una Película Excepcional que NO te recomiendo

Talking among neighbors and friends about movies, one of them recommended that we NOT watch MISS VIOLENCE, with the caveat that it was good but that he did not recommend it because it was very hard and difficult to watch. I asked him if it was about gore, because I don't like this genre at all, I find gore repulsive.

My friend told us that it wasn't gore, and that there were no explicit scenes, but it was still very strong and creepy. And this caught my attention, about the plot and the way of narrating something so creepy without the use of terror, which he told us was not terror, neither gore, nor explicit scenes. So, despite the recommendation that I not see it, I went there like a little lamb to see it, and today I am making my Post about MISS VIOLENCE telling you the same thing, it is very good and I DO NOT recommend it to you.

So here I go...

To be honest, I have had this Post in draft since last year, with the cover even done; but I didn't dare to upload it because of how strong it is, but I am aware that this real and terrifying theme is the example of when they say that reality is stranger than fiction. But I also felt the responsibility to tell you about this situation given that we have a Social Responsibility in the face of such events.

MISS VIOLENCE is a 2013 Greek film, winner of two awards at the 2013 Venice Film Festival: best director and best actor. It begins with a grandpa and grandma family, with a mother of four, a boy and three girls, celebrating the middle daughter's 11th birthday. When this girl approaches the balcony, she smiles and jumps, dying instantly. This strange attitude caught my attention.

The music, the color palette and the attitude of the family surprised me because they did not cry, certainly the director manages to convey an atmosphere of uncertainty and contradiction from that first scene, which we have in the Trailer of the film, and since I am very bad Once I thought about it, I made my theory, I think that this is also something that the director achieves, he doesn't tell us anything and at the same time he tells us everything.

La música, la paleta de colores y la actitud de la familia me sorprendió porque no lloraban, ciertamente el director logra transmitir una atmósfera de incertidumbre y contradicción desde esa primera escena, que la tenemos en el Tráiler de la película, y como soy muy mal pensada de una vez me hice mi teoría, creo que esto también es algo que logra el director, no nos dice nada y a la vez nos dice todo.

Luego, la familia será investigada por negligencia infantil y ésta aparece guardando cosas y como borrando evidencia. Como espectadora esperaba que le dieran sentido a esa incertidumbre, pero lo pasa nada.

Veremos a un abuelo súper controlador con su esposa, su hija y nietos. Demasiado extraño que no trabaje nadie, y pronto veremos escenas donde el abuelo recoge a una de las niñas en el colegio y la lleva a un callejón, y ya me confirmaba mis sospechas. Se trataba de una película donde el abuelo gana dinero prostituyendo a su hija y a sus nietas, así de rudo es el tema de la película Miss Violence.

Like my friend, I can tell you that it is a great horror movie, without gore scenes or special effects resources, but it is pure terror. There is a scene that is very explicit about the rape of two people and even the grandfather of his granddaughter, and the director decides that although the granddaughter's naked body appears, her face cannot be seen, and this is like telling us that she could very well have being the granddaughter or the daughter, or even that person that one knows and who keeps quiet about the situation.

Not showing her face was a total success by the director, and it is something creepy and very difficult to watch.

The development of the film is really broader than what I have told here and what the director does not tell is as terrifying as what he does tell, it is really a great narrative that is accompanied by sounds and color palettes that completely immerses us. in this family tragedy.

Miss Violence is a movie that I would not see again, it is a movie that I DO NOT recommend, but it is a great movie, with a great tragedy that shows us how fragile the family structure is, how vulnerable the safety of our children and the children of other families, but I do not regret having seen it because of the call to our consciences, because of the alert it puts in our heads and reminds us that we have the social responsibility to pay attention to the signs or indications that children can give us, although are not ours, and that we must help them, it is a social and human responsibility that we have.

If I must tell you that I have realized that I am experimenting more with other cinema that is not Hollywood, and every time I see a film that is not from there, I realize how accustomed we are to that format, to that style. of making films. I have consumed Norwegian, Swedish, British, French cinema and I am taking cinematographic art more seriously in matters such as the director's style, the color palettes to transmit through them, silences as a resource, etc.
