Khanduri 30 Days People Died

avatar

Hello hive'r

In this post, I share a tradition or culture that is found in the life of the Acehnese people, especially the Pidie district. The 30-day khaduri event for the dead is carried out at the house of the deceased, only held one night.

This event is attended by residents of the village where the person died, who are invited directly by the heirs of the deceased, usually invited by religious leaders, community leaders, youth leaders and several other village communities who have family relations with the deceased.

The event started with a dinner prepared by the host. After dinner is over, it is continued by reading prayers for the dead. After the prayer - the prayer continued with a snack. The snacks served are in the form of cakes typical of the Aceh region such as keukarah, timphan and others.

That's all I can share on this occasion, I hope my friends like it.

Hello @yayan! What an interesting but solemn Acehnese culture. I see from the pictures that it's the men that come together for the 30-day Khaduri event for the dead. It is usually so or the women are not allowed to participate?

Most cultures around the world say prayers for the dead to usher them into a peaceful eternal rest followed by a little dining/reception. It's very similar to your culture. This is nice.

Thank you for sharing your Acehnese culture with us. 🙂

Women can also participate, but mostly women only prepare food to be served to men
