One of the iconic restaurants in Szolnok, Hungary has been permanently closed - My #WednesdayWalk (2022.09.07)
#WednesdayWalk by @tattoodjay.
I write iconic, because the Törpe Ételbár (Dwarf Food Bar) was served the guests for 40 years. I also ate a lunch there multiple times. I loved it, because their foods were delicious/tasty and affordable (a menu was around $3.30 USD). This year (in 2022) it has been permanently closed. This is how it looks like today (on 2022.09.07).
The name signs with the food listings are still out.
An invitational sign. It says that they have diverse foods, family-like mood, and homely/home-like tastes.
They indeed had these things. This is why it is sad that this restaurant is now permanently closed. I heard rumors that a new restaurant will open in this same place with a new owner, but nothing is sure yet.
Either way, I went for a walk. Despite it is autumn/fall, the weather is still hot (around 27 °C). I checked the nearby square.
The weather still feels summer-like.
You can still buy ice cream too.
But the signs of autumn/fall are visible. There are leaves on the ground.
I met a pigeon on my walk.
As soon as I tried to move closer, he/she flied away. I tried to take a photo about his/her flight. The photo became a little bit blurried, as I took the photo, while I moved up my smartphone, but he/she (at least his/her tail) is visible on the photo.
This is it for today. Thank you for coming with me on my Wednesday Walk.
I took these photos with my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy A12). I have not edited these photos.
Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.
Such a nice area for the walk, its sad to see this restaurant close, here so many have shut down because of the pandemic, it has hit so many small businesses so hard
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
I do not know why this restaurant closed. As I know, this is not becuse of the pandemic, but because of the personal decision of the owner. I do not know the details. Either way, I enjoyed the walk. The weather is good.
Maybe the owner had it for so long he needed to close it and slow down and enjoy life more
So a kind of retirement. That is a possible reason/explanation.
could be but I guess we will never know
Lovely clean place to enjoy a walk, sad so many shops have closed of late. Hopefully next time it will be open, I do hope you had some ice-cream while enjoying the last warmth of summer months.

Maybe something else in its place.
Today I have not, but a few days ago I ate multiple types of ice cream.
Hope it is a traditional food on offer, ice-cream on hot days most enjoyable always.

It’s a shame to see a nice and friendly restaurant closed. My favourite restaurant has been closed for five months now!! The owner was trying to find somewhere with affordable rent. But I think that’s impossible now.
Maybe this restaurant is closed also because of financial problems. I do not know.
I am afraid that more restaurants and shops here will have to close as they couldn’t make any profit.
Three big shopping malls have already closed down as they couldn’t pay the cost of electricity!
The costs of rent and the electricity are indeed increased a lot in the recent past, and these high prices are problems to many people. Hopefully the prices soon will return to normal, or the incomes of the people will be adjusted to these new prices.
I am afraid things are getting worse! Look at France and Switzerland; they will have to ration energy usage soon. Other places will follow! Be prepare for worse case scenario!
