Christmas Coffee Advent - Day 3

Day 3 of Coffee Advent is here. I think that might need to be the official name for the season this year: Coffee Advent.

Coffee Advent has been Hit or Miss this year, so far: Day 1, a Candy Cane blend, was surprisingly tasty. Day 2, a Spiced Eggnog blend, was just as surprisingly dull. I'm hoping to get above .500 today.

Yes, a Sugar Cookie coffee today! I am not one to normally drink sweet coffee; honestly, in fact, I prefer coffee black and bitter, but I can handle a little bit of sugar if necessary. And, truth be told, I do like a good sugar cookie. The question, now, is if this sugar cookie makes the transition to coffee.

Here are my thoughts:

Coffee Name: Sugar Cookie Coffee

Roast Degree: Light-Medium

Grind Type: K-Cup

Flavour: Sugar Cookie

Paired With: no pairings or additives

Brew Method: Drip brew

Taste (1-10): 7

  • Sweet: 7
  • Acidic: 3
  • Floral: 1
  • Spicy: 1
  • Salty: 1
  • Berry Fruit: 1
  • Citrus Fruit: 1
  • Stone Fruit: 1
  • Chocolate: 1
  • Caramel: 1
  • Smoky: 3
  • Bitter: 5
  • Savory: 1
  • Body: 5
  • Clean: 6
  • Linger/Finish: 6

All in all, this was a tasty coffee today. The roast was a light-medium with an obvious sweetener added to provide the sugar cookie flavour.

What I enjoyed about this brew over yesterday's is that, despite being sweet, it was still somewhat better; one could taste the coffee in it, and it wasn't smooth like a cup of hot chocolate. It finished clean and didn't have a heavy or un-appetising after taste; in fact, it was a pleasant drink to start the day and one that I would not argue against if it cropped up again.

I am the only one in the house who drinks coffee. I know what I normally like and pretty much stick with it all the time when I'm not experimenting with making my own recipes. This particular advent calendar is a neat way to expand my coffee horizons. Hopefully we're on an upward trend and will continue to get to more coffee's I enjoy over those I do not!

I love my black coffee well concentrated and with an extra sweet cookie, but you like it strong and bitter. Good thing it's a favorite. Coffee is always a good companion

It is indeed! Flavoured coffee's usually aren't my thing, but occasionally they do turn out well!
