Christmas Coffee Advent - Day 1
It has been some while since I have been active on Hive. October and November were pretty much write-off's. Alas.
But! Now it is December, and I have a cop-out to begin to engage. Christmas Advent Calendars! And what better way to enjoy Advent than with a Coffee Advent Calendar. Mmm, mmm good.
Yes, this really is a coffee advent. Hidden behind each door is a K-Cup full of wholesome coffee goodness. The calendar came from Aldi's. What a magical place that is.
When I was a child I usually received an advent calendar filled with small pieces of chocolatey-flavoured candy. I'm hesitant to call it actual chocolate, because I don't think it was, but it was something I remember enjoying nonetheless. Of course, now that I'm no longer a child, I still eat chocolate, but have since branched out as well. What is behind door number 1?
Alright, I'll admit, when I first saw "Candy Cane" and "Coffee" put together I was dubious. I was also dubious when first presented with "Banana Bread Beer," and I'm happy to admit that in this case, as in that, my initial assumption was wrong.
The coffee was smooth and not bitter. It was, in fact, minty. I normally do enjoy bitter coffee, or coffee with some strong spices in it (not sweetened), but this one worked. It definitely had a candy cane taste to it, almost to the point of tasting like a hot chocolate, but without the chocolate. Seriously, the mint flavour was stronger than I was expecting, which probably did the entire coffee a solid service; if it was any lighter it would have simply covered the taste of the coffee without providing any additional flavouring. Given a choice between this and a coffee I would normally drink, I'd choose my normal coffee (I'm just not a fan of sweet coffee), but this one was definitely better than anticipated. It is keeping me looking forward to day 2.
p.s., if anyone is curious, yes, I had a cat assist in the making of these photos.

Thank you!
This is a very original calendar.

It really is original. And it's coffee! It's a win all around for me.
I have Kahlua as one of my Keurig coffee selections.
Kahlua coffee? That does sound pretty tasty, I'll admit.
How nice that you are back in hive once again.
By the way, all your pictures are great and the cat is perfect.
Thank you! Yes, the cat is really awesome. She likes to help me with a lot of my projects.
This is not something that is gonna be enjoyed in my house 🤷🏻
On the other hand, the idea is interesting and your photos create a very warm feelings in the reader. This year I decided to skip a coffee advent calendar, maybe next year…
Happy weekend!
LOL! Oh I know it; if I saw this as an option any other time, I'd pass it right over without giving it a second thought.
This is definitely one of those coffees that I'd only have ever tried in a random selection like this. Thankfully I still have good coffee to enjoy the rest of the day.
Thank you for the compliments!
The idea of putting this coffee in an advent calendar makes it a good choice, of course! But if I pull this one from somewhere I’ll probably pass it to someone who will enjoy it. 😁
It's very curious, on my social media people share these calendars from Coca Cola, Chanel, Pepsi, and several big brands in the industry, but I hadn't seen one of these. It made me want to buy one and see what a caffeinated surprise it has each day. greetings!!!
