Trying to make a canopy in the shop yourself.
Hi architecture lovers..
Maybe this sounds a little crazy to you, because this time I tried to do something I've never done, which is to make a canopy in front of my shop to protect it from the hot sun and rain.
The reason I made this canopy myself is because the funds I have are very limited, for how it works I learned through youtube media.
I built this canopy using a steel frame, and using zinc as the roof, with a length of 6 meters and a width of 3 meters.
The ingredients I use and what I
need in making this canopy are:
-Light steel ribs are generally 6 meters long, about 10 rods can be prepared.
Mild steel battens with a length of 6 meters as many as 12 rods.
spandex, about 5 sheets. 6 meters long.
The manufacture of canopies from mild steel and the need for materials to make the canopy are of course greatly influenced by the size of the canopy to be made and the shape of the canopy.
Knowledge in designing the canopy roof truss is very necessary, so as not to endanger the owner and others.
The things I did as per the instructions I got on youtube were:
- Making the Supporting Poles for the Canopy Frame.
The first part that must be made is to make the support poles from mild steel rafters, the manufacture of support poles can be made in various shapes according to the wishes and availability of materials.
2.Canopy Roof Slope Mild steel.
To measure the slope of the roof you can use a water pass or other measuring instrument that aims to determine the angle of the roof slope, this is so that when it rains, rainwater can fall to where we expect and not vice versa. After the poles have been assembled, the next step is erect the poles and string between the poles using mild steel rafters.
3.Installing C Mild Steel
After the poles are assembled, the next step is to install mild steel rafters or c with a distance of 120 cm between the rafters (the tighter the stronger), attach the bolts using an electric drill. Install until all the rafters are attached.
Hi @wordoffungus your post is very useful because really money becomes salt and water so it is not always enough for everything. I congratulate you for your initiative and deciding to solve a problem but remember the most important thing is resistance and security. Blessings and success with your awning.
Thank you @sorprendente
👍
Great effort!
I hope that you screwed all of the panels down tight...
I bet that you feel proud of yourself for doing such a big job yourself too!
Thanks for the support @chocolatescorpi
Hey I support anyone that says that they love animals and nature! 😃
Hello @wordoffungus, welcome to the Architecture+Design Community! Thank you for taking us through the detailed construction processes for installing your shop canopy. That's impressive work - knowing that you've done that project by yourself.
For the best experience, we highly encourage you to review and follow our Community Rules (at the Right Side of our webpage on desktop or the About Tab on mobile), particularly the minimum number of words required for our posts. We appreciate your interest in us and we look forward to your publications here!
Thank you @aplusd for the instructions and directions, maybe for the next post I will do as you say, thank you again for the support.
It is nice to do this kind of job on our own (saving some money in return). As for me, I always wanted to learn this kind of workmanship.
Thanks @afterglow
