INTENSE HEAT MAY LEAD TO UNPRODUCTIVITY
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. Thank God it's Saturday. It is that day of the week once again, most people's favorite day of the week when you take time to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the whole week. But, there's something I have been observing for a couple of weeks, say months and it is the effect of excessive heat on humans, especially in relation to our productivity. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.
The temperature as I type this post at 10.30am WAT is 32°C and you can imagine how hot it will be when it's noon or about 2pm. We are in the dry season in this part of the world and the heat have been crazy that it has been affecting the productivity of so many people. It has been getting pretty bad lately when the National Grid got bad in Nigeria and there have been scarcity of fuel as well. This means that it will be quite difficult to use a air-conditioner or even a fan in this situation that we've found ourself as a nation.
Personally, I shower up to like four times when I'm at home during weekends due to the crazy heat. I feel very itchy, sweaty and uncomfortable as a result of the intense heat. Come to think of how less productive I will be if I'm at home when I'm feeling really sweaty and uncomfortable but I cannot freshen up. I'd just have to manage myself and do the little I can do till I get home in the evening. There is some sort of headache that comes with intense heat that will make the whole body feel weak and tired. There are times when I really feel I can pull my dress to allow fresh air during working hours but sadly it is not possible.
There is a point to note that perpetual physical discomfort may tell on the health especially the mental health. This could be more chronic in people whose jobs expose them to weather hazard such as people who work in the agricultural sector or construction industry
On the other hand, the heat in the last couple of years have been so intense and I think it could be as a result of the climate change that the world is currently experiencing. It is not usually this serious during the dry season but due to the effects of the climate change, we're being exposed to more heat than before.

I agree, intense heat and cold both are deterring factors but we find ways to combat the. Cheers, have a nice weekend!
