Today I want to tell you about a fantastic trip to one of the historic capitals of the world, including art, culture and beautiful landscapes, we go together to visit the heart of ancient Greece: Athens.
I divided this post into three parts in which I will talk about different aspects of the city:

Oggi vi voglio raccontare di un viaggio fantastico in una delle capitali storiche del mondo, tra arte cultura e splendidi paesaggi, andiamo assieme a visitare il cuore della Grecia antica: Atene.

INTRODUCTION

Hello friends of #Haveyoubeenhere! I hope you are all well... Today I want to conclude the series of my posts dedicated to Athens, we have seen the history of the city, we have visited together the beautiful Acropolis, now we are missing a fundamental part, to see how this city actually is, what it means to live there and what are perhaps lesser known aspects that characterize it.
We'll also be popping in to one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen! Well we just have to go 😎

INTRODUZIONE

Ciao amici di #Haveyoubeenhere! Spero che stiate tutti bene... Oggi voglio concludere la serie dei miei post dedicati ad Atene, abbiamo visto la storia della città, abbiamo visitato assieme la bellissima Acropoli, ora ci manca una parte fondamentale, vedere come è effettivamente questa città, cosa vuol dire viverci e quali sono gli aspetti forse meno conosciuti che la caratterizzano.
Ci faremo un salto anche in una delle spiagge più belle che io abbia mai visto! Bene non ci resta che partire 😎

Athens is a metropolis.
What immediately comes to mind when we think of Athens is the historical part I mentioned in my previous posts, but Athens is not just that.
As soon as I arrived, I was immediately struck by how infinitely different the city is from the collective imagination.

Atene è una metropoli.
Quello che si pensa subito quando ci viene in mente Atene è la parte storica di cui ho parlato nei miei precedenti post, ma Atene non è solo questo.
Appena arrivato, ho avuto subito modo di constatare quanto la città sia infinitamente diversa dall'immaginario collettivo.

It is absolutely true that the city developed on the historical basis of the sacred part: the Acropolis, but just move a few kilometers to the outskirts and what we see is the face of a real urban suburb that is anything but historical and well kept.

E' assolutamente vero che la città si sviluppa sulle basi storiche della parte sacra: l'Acropoli, ma basta spostarsi di qualche chilometro verso la periferia e ciò che vediamo è il volto di una vera e propria periferia urbana che è tutt'altro che storia e ben tenuta.

One of the most beautiful attractions to visit if you want to see the "real Athens of today" is undoubtedly the city market, a food market that gathers endless varieties of fresh products.
Here for example we see a picture of a typical stall selling dried fruits and spices, this is really the original face of the city that offers us a timeless, popular perspective with an almost Middle Eastern influence.

Una delle attrazioni più belle da visitare se si vuole vedere la "vera Atene di oggi" è senz'altro il mercato cittadino, un mercato di cibi che raccoglie infinite varietà di prodotti freschi.
Qui per esempio vediamo una foto di una tipica bancarella che vende frutta essiccata e spezie, questo è proprio il volto originale della città che ci offre una prospettiva senza tempo, popolare con un influsso quasi medio-orientale.

Unfortunately, the Athens cared for and maintained well has a radius of a few kilometers centered on the historical part, in the suburbs the buildings are high and show a lack of maintenance, here there are many poor people who walk the streets, perhaps a little for the crisis that has experienced a few years ago this state, perhaps for the neglect of those who govern the city ... We see a totally different face, labile and without history.

Purtroppo l'Atene curata e tenuta bene ha un raggio di pochi chilometri centrato sulla parte storica, in periferia i palazzi sono alti e mostrano una mancata manutenzione, qui ci sono molte persone povere che girano per strada, forse un po per la crisi che ha vissuto qualche anno fa questo stato, forse per l'incuria di chi governa la città... Vediamo un volto totalmente diverso, labile e senza storia.

What you see in the picture is perhaps the most beautiful square in Athens, it is a very beautiful and redeveloped space not too far from the Acropolis called Monastiraki I absolutely recommend you to see this place at least once in your life.

Quella che vedete in foto è forse la piazza più bella di Atene, si tratta di uno spazio molto bello e riqualificato non troppo lontano dall'Acropoli che si chiama Monastiraki vi consiglio assolutamente di vedere questo luogo almeno una volta nella vita.

This is a square surrounded by many buildings of historical importance such as the old Athens Mosque (which you can see in the picture on the left side).
This area of the city is always packed with people, at any time of day, and it's really nice to walk around and stop...maybe have a chat with some foreigners.

Si tratta di una piazza circondata da numerosi edifici di importanza storica come la vecchia Moschea di Atene (che potete vedere nella foto sulla parte sinistra).
In questa zona della città si sono sempre tantissime persone, a qualsiasi ora del giorno, ed è veramente bello passeggiare e fermarsi... magari a fare due chiacchere con qualche straniero.

I remember that we really spent a lot of time in this square because it feels like you are truly at the center of the world.
Especially in the evening, when the sun goes down, we all gather here and watch the faint sunlight reflect off the historic buildings, making the atmosphere place-less and timeless.

Ricordo che abbiamo passato davvero tanto tempo in questa piazza perché sembra di essere davvero al centro del mondo.
Soprattutto la sera, quando il sole tramonta, ci si ritrova tutti qui e si guarda la flebile luce del sole che si riflette sui palazzi storici, rendendo l'atmosfera senza luogo e senza tempo.

The really cool thing about this city is that everywhere you go there is always a historical monument or artifact that you can admire, as in this case.
All we have to do is turn behind the old mosque and we're faced with a gorgeous colonnade.

La cosa veramente bella di questa città è che ovunque vai c'è sempre un monumento storico o un reperto che puoi ammirare, come in questo caso.
Basta girare dietro la vecchia moschea che ci ritroviamo davanti un colonnato stupendo.

There are also countless small archaeological sites scattered throughout the city, those that I'm showing you in the picture are on the way to get to the Agora.

Sono poi presenti innumerevoli piccoli siti archeologici sparsi per tutta la città, quelli che vi sto mostrando in foto si trovano sul percorso per arrivare all'Agorà.

I really like the sense of infinity that the waning sun gives, with its golden rays crossing the city and touching the historical artifacts, today as well as thousands of years ago.

Mi piace molto il senso di infinito che da il sole calante, che con i suoi raggi dorati attraversa la città e tocca i reperti storici, oggi come migliaia di anni fa.

These two photographs I'm showing you were taken from the Licabetto: a hill in the city from which you can see the splendid panorama of the metropolis.

Queste due fotografie che vi mostro sono state scattate dal Licabetto: un'altura che si trova nella città dalla quale è possibile vedere lo splendido panorama della metropoli.

In this beautiful place you can climb and admire the acropolis on one side and the new city on the other.

In questo bellissimo luogo è possibile salire e ammirare da un lato l'acropoli e dall'altro la città nuova.

This place is always populated by tourists and locals who sit and admire the view, the absolute best time to come here is in the evening during sunset.
In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful places in Athens, both for the wonderful view from the top and for the place of recollection and meeting that it represents.

Questo luogo è sempre popolato da turisti e locali che si siedono e ammirano il panorama, il momento più bello in assoluto per venire qui è la sera durante il tramonto.
Secondo me si tratta di uno dei luoghi più belli di Atene, sia per la stupenda visione dall'alto che per il luogo di raccoglimento e di incontro che rappresenta.

And here it is, the setting sun.... In the distance the hills of Athens and just beyond that the city stretching as far as the eye can see; truly a unique view.

Ed eccolo qui, il sole che tramonta... In lontananza le colline di Atene e subito dopo la città che si estende a perdita d'occhio; davvero un panorama unico.

Once the sun has set and the night begins to take its space the city takes on a lively and joyful atmosphere, in fact Athens, especially in the central part, is really very alive and energetic even at night.

Una volta che il sole è tramontato e la notte comincia a prendere i suoi spazi la città assume un'atmosfera vivace e gioiosa, infatti Atene, soprattutto nella parte centrale, è davvero molto viva ed energica anche di notte.

The colors you see in this picture are those of a street where there are the best restaurants in Athens, is located not far from Monastiraki and is all populated by restaurants.
In this street there is a restaurant where you can eat the best giros in the world, but don't worry here you can eat well anywhere 😉

I colori che vedete in questa foto sono quelli di una via nella quale sono presenti i ristoranti migliori di tutta Atene, si trova non molto distante da Monastiraki ed è tutta popolata da ristoranti.
In questa via è presente un ristorante dove è possibile mangiare i migliori giros del mondo, ma non preoccupatevi qui si mangia bene ovunque 😉

Now we move to the beaches, yes because Athens has wonderful beaches and for everyone.
To reach them you must take a bus that leaves from the city center and runs along the coast.

Ora ci spostiamo nelle spiagge, si perchè Atene ha delle spiagge meravigliose e per tutti.
Per raggiungerle è necessario prendere un Autobus che parte dal centro della città e percorre tutta la costa.

It is possible to reach beaches equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds or even beaches without any service.

E' possibile raggiungere spiagge attrezzate con ombrelloni e lettini o anche spiagge senza nessun servizio.

In this picture you see a beach with services, it is quite populated mainly by locals who can relax and have fun thanks also to the bar that makes music and serves aperitifs.

In questa foto vedete una spiaggia con servizi, è abbastanza popolata soprattutto da persone del luogo che possono rilassarsi e divertirsi grazie anche al bar che fa musica e serve aperitivi.

I love natural beaches so I decided to continue the walk south and stop at a really amazing stretch of free beach.

Io adoro le spiagge naturali e quindi ho deciso di proseguire il cammino verso sud e fermarmi in un tratto di spiaggia libera davvero incredibile.

You can get to the beach by public bus and it is right next to the road.
I highly recommend coming here if you really want to enjoy a whole day in the sun.

La spiaggia la si può raggiungere con gli autobus pubblici e si trova subito a fianco della strada.
Io vi consiglio vivamente di venire qui se volete davvero godervi un'intera giornata di sole.

It's true, there are no services but the nature offers a panorama and an environment really unique in the world.
The beaches of Athens are in fact known to be rocky, in these points, however, the sand is finer and it is really comfortable to stop here.

E' vero, non sono presenti servizi ma la natura offre un panorama e un ambiente davvero unico al mondo.
Le spiagge di Atene sono infatti note per essere rocciose, in questi punti però la sabbia è più fine ed è davvero comodo sostare qui.

It's very simple as a landscape, the elements are so breathtakingly beautiful, in these photos the sun was about to set and I had just spent an amazing day in full contact with nature.

E' molto semplice come paesaggio, gli elementi sono così belli da togliere il fiato, in queste foto il sole stava per tramontare e avevo appena speso una giornata stupefacente i pieno contatto con la natura.

The water is really clear, a cleanliness that I have hardly found elsewhere, the bottom is rocky and then the color of the water is brownish-green and shades of blue can be seen in the morning, when the sun shines high.

L'acqua è davvero limpidissima, una pulizia che difficilmente ho trovato da altre parti, il fondale è roccioso e quindi il colore dell'acqua è marroncino-verde e le sfumature di azzurro si possono vedere al mattino, quando il sole splende alto.

Truly beautiful, despite all the wonderful experiences I've been able to have in Athens, the beach experience is perhaps the one I remember most vividly.

Davvero bellissimo, nonostante tutte le esperienze stupende che ho potuto fare ad Atene, quella della spiaggia è forse quella che ricordo in modo più vivido..

Back in town, here I show you a little break we took to enjoy a very good coffee and black tea.

Torniamo in città, qui vi mostro una piccola pausa che abbiamo fatto per gustarci un caffè ed un the nero molto buoni.

I wanted to show you some typical dishes from Athens and in general from all over Greece.
I really like Greek food and every now and then, even when I'm in Italy, I like to try Greek restaurants, however since I've been in Athens I haven't really enjoyed eating a Pita Gyros or a Suvlaki.
The taste of traditional Greek cuisine eaten in Greece has something unique, the meat is really sensational really amazing that such simple dishes can be so good.
We ate gyros both in restaurants and on the street as street-food, here you can find it really everywhere.

Vi ho voluto mostrare alcuni piatti tipi ci di Atene e in generale di tutta la Grecia.
A me piace molto il cibo greco e ogni tanto, anche quando sono in Italia, mi piace provare i ristoranti greci, tuttavia da quando sono stato ad Atene non ho più mangiato volentieri una Pita Gyros o un Suvlaki.
il sapore della cucina tradizionale graca mangiata in Grecia ha qualcosa di unico, la carne è davvero sensazionale davvero incredibile che dei piatti così semplici possano essere così buoni.
Abbiamo mangiato gyros sia al ristorante che per strada come street-food, qui puoi trovarlo veramente ovunque.

CONCLUSION

It was really nice to remember this trip and be able to tell you about it here on #Hive, I think the #Haveyoubeenhere community is an amazing project that not only allows us to spread a culture related to the history and beauty of places around the world, but personally gives us the opportunity to relive unique emotions of our lives: those of travel.

E' stato davvero bello ricordare questo viaggio e potervelo raccontare qui su #Hive, credo che la comunità #Haveyoubeenhere sia un progetto straordinario che non solo i permette di diffondere una cultura legata alla storia e alle bellezze dei luoghi del mondo, ma che personalmente ci da la possibilità di rivivere emozioni uniche della nostra vita: quelle dei viaggi.
