DIY kiddies tutu skirt
This playful-looking skirt is quite popular with kids and grown-ups alike. They are used in ballet dances, costume shows and parties. It has been called a lot of names from a tutu to a puffy tulle and a ballerina skirt. The most popular is the ‘Tutu’. It is made up of a lot of layering of a mesh/muslin fabric to form a bell shape.
How to make a tutu skirt
First as usual, I drew out a sketch of what I wanted to make.
Then I cut out the items needed based on the length and waist breadth of the child. In this case a 6-year-old child.
Her waist measurement is 22 inches and the skirt length is 14 inches.
Items- lining, hard net, ankara fabric and mesh.
For the length, I took out two inches for the round waist belt and added one and a half Inches allowance for folding the rim and attaching to the belt.
I sewed and made gathers for a lot of fabrics.
First bottom layer had the lining so it is soft against her skin, second the hard net then third the lining so the white hard net does not show before finally placing two layers of the mesh gathered fabric.
Here are the layers as mentioned.

Then I sewed the belt for the waistline.
Then I sewed the belt to it.
After sewing the waistline or belt;
Here is the final look
