DIY Female suit and short

I always like a good challenge and trying out new things never done before is a thing of pleasure. Making a suit has been on the list right up there. My interest hasn't necessarily been on the entirety of a cooperate look but one made with an Ankara.

Immediately I saw this fabric it rang out to me- make a suit!

In the making of the suit and trousers, I discovered that the fabric would not be enough for the trousers so I opted for a suit and shorts instead which is also chicky and adorable.

Before I began, I got these items for the suit
• A suit lining (slippery and soft)
• Brown paper (for pattern cutting)
• Air stay
• Measuring tape
• Scissors

First I took my full body measurement then divided it by four adding an allowance of 1.5 inches.
Using a video online (YouTube) I cut out these patterns.

Then placing this pattern on the fabric I cut out both the lining and fabric as seen below

I did the same for the shorts but used a different texture of lining. Hence, used the lining to cut out patterns and placed it on the fabric to cut out.

Note: do not cut the pocket on the lining.
I made that mistake once and it was an ordeal to fix it.

After assembling all the parts and sewing everything.
Here is the result.

And here is the look when worn.
