Miami Open 2022, Daniil Medvedev Eliminated and Hubert Hurkacz Heading to the Semis
Hello friends and welcome to my blog, This is my first post in the community and I hope to make many more in the coming weeks and months.
Yesterday I had a brief discussion in the comment section with @erikah about how I think Medvedev is a better player and has more experience to win the Miami Open, well as it turns out, I was wrong as Medvedev was knocked out of the completion by Hurkacz.
My Thoughts on the Game
While I was expecting Medvedev to take the first set, which inevitably failed to do. Though i didn't watch the game, i had much anticipation about this game that i watched the highlights just minutes after it ended.
I think Hurkacz was a lot stronger and more accurate, while Medvedev was very wasteful in my opinion, I love the russsian but I had expected more from him in this game.
He wasn't able to make much returns on the serve, Hurkacz had 5 aces on him which is a lot of points to win a set, which i think is rather poor considering that Medvedev is the world's current number 1, which he didn't really last very long on anyways.
I think one of the poorest things about the stats below is the Double Faults, Medvedev had 6 double faults which are literally free points to your opponent, maybe he didn't practice his second serves before playing this game.
Game Data | Daniil Medvedev | Hubert Hurkacz |
---|---|---|
Ace | 2 | 5 |
Double faults | 6 | 1 |
First serve % | 72% | 86% |
Tiebreaks won | 0 | 1 |
Receiving points won | 19 | 38 |
Points won | 75 | 83 |
Games won | 9 | 13 |
Max games won in a row | 3 | 3 |
Max points won in a row | 7 | 7 |
Service points won | 56 | 45 |
Service games won | 8 | 9 |
Let's see if Medvedev can keep his cool, or he will end up like Kyrgios 😂
And just like @erikah predicted he's lost and out of the Tour. This Tour is becoming more and more interesting, it's hard to predict the Winner, I tried and failed LOL 😂😂 and I am done predicting, I just wish the best player to win.
Currently, we have the following player advancing to the semi-finals, and i am keen to see how tins play out and which players qualify. C. Alcaraz Garfia (Spanish) and M. Kecmanović(Serbian) will play on 1st April 2022, the winner will then play H. Hurkacz in the semis.
Semi-Finals
FranciscoCerundolo(Argentine) v CasperRuud(Norwegian) H. Hurkacz v 2nd Quater final Qualifer
What do you guys think, which pair will make it to the finals. Let's go 🎾🎾🎾, Drop your thoughts and predictions in the comment section.
