Hola de nuevo amigos, mochileros, excursionistas y turistas, como están? Nuevamente les quiero compartir otro destino increíble para visitar y turistear un día, se trata del sendero muy largo y amplio que abarca una gran formación montañosa en la cual hay un rio que atraviesa parte de esta formación y al rededor de pueblitos, se llama Gallinazo y esta cerca de la población de Villamaria muy cercana a la ciudad de Manizales. A este lugar acuden muchas personas en motocicleta y vehículos para disfrutar del rió, aunque las aguas son muy pero muy frías, algunos van a bañarse y otros hacen fogatas y comen en familia a la orilla.
El recorrido en motocicleta es de 25min aproximadamente desde la ciudad de Manizales, y el camino por este lugar es de tierra, como llueve constantemente hay mucho barro por lo cual hay que manejar con cuidado, ademas que hay nacientes de agua y la carretera no es apta para todo tipo de vehículo.
Ademas de eso en este lugar se vive de la explotación de bosques forestales de pino, pues son sembrados comercialmente para la venta de madera, también se vive de ganado, queso, leche y algunos cultivo de café. El fuerte de este lugar es el turismo, pues siempre hay personas visitando este lugar.

Hello again friends, backpackers, hikers and tourists, how are you? Once again I want to share with you another incredible destination to visit and spend a day sightseeing, this is a very long and wide trail that covers a large mountainous formation in which there is a river that crosses part of this formation and around small towns, it is called Gallinazo and is near the town of Villamaria very close to the city of Manizales. Many people come to this place on motorcycles and vehicles to enjoy the river, although the waters are very, very cold, some go swimming and others make bonfires and eat with the family on the shore.
The motorcycle ride is approximately 25 minutes from the city of Manizales, and the road through this place is dirt, as it rains constantly there is a lot of mud so you have to drive carefully, plus there are springs of water and the road is not suitable for all types of vehicles.
Besides that in this place they live from the exploitation of pine forests, because they are planted commercially for the sale of wood, they also live from cattle, cheese, milk and some coffee cultivation. The strong point of this place is tourism, because there are always people visiting this place.
Para llegar a Villamaria hay que bajar desde Manizales, que como mencione anteriormente es una ciudad construida en una montaña por lo cual las vías son subidas o bajadas muy pronunciadas. En camino debemos pasar por la zona industrial donde hay platas procesadores de metales, reciclan y procesan metal, y hay otras empresas a los al rededores, pero al pasar podemos oír el ruido de las calderas cuando expulsan humo y el constante movimiento de montañas de chatarra por gruas.
El camino esta en ciertas partes en mal estado, hay huecos y mucha maleza que dificulta la visión, pero va mejorando al llegar al pueblito donde iremos al rió.
El paisaje es complemente de fantasía, laderas con cultivos, bosques de pino, montañas muy verdes y mucho frió. Incluso mencione la frase "Un poco mas y encontramos a Heidi" haciendo referencia a la caricatura que se inspira en los alpes suizos.
To get to Villamaria we have to go down from Manizales, which as I mentioned before is a city built on a mountain so the roads are very steep climbs or descents. On the way we must pass through the industrial zone where there are metal processing plants, recycle and process metal, and there are other companies in the surrounding area, but as we pass we can hear the noise of the boilers when they expel smoke and the constant movement of mountains of scrap metal by cranes.
The road is in some parts in bad condition, there are holes and a lot of weeds that make it difficult to see, but it gets better as we get to the village where we will go to the river.
The scenery is completely fantasy, hillsides with crops, pine forests, very green mountains and very cold. I even mentioned the phrase "A little more and we find Heidi" referring to the cartoon that is inspired by the Swiss Alps.
Dejamos el publieto de Villamaria a un lado y nos dirigimos al rió, alli es donde estaba nuestro destino desde un principio, podíamos ver personas caminando hacia el mismo lugar, otros en motocicleta y otros en su vehículo. En la primera parada que hicimos, vimos algunas personas con una fogata, y en este tramo del rió el agua es muy clara al igual que las rocas, pero a medida que nos acercamos se torna rojiza y esto es por la cantidad de cobre que hay en el agua, no se si se debe algún yacimiento en especifico o se debe al Volcán Nevado de Ruiz ya que al parecen estas aguas nacen cerca del volcán.
We left the Villamaria advertisement aside and headed to the river, that is where our destination was from the beginning, we could see people walking to the same place, others on motorcycles and others in their vehicles. In the first stop we made, we saw some people with a campfire, and in this stretch of the river the water is very clear as well as the rocks, but as we approached it becomes reddish and this is because of the amount of copper in the water, I do not know if it is due to a specific deposit or is due to the Nevado de Ruiz Volcano because it seems that these waters are born near the volcano.
Mi hermano me contó lo que escucho de sus amigos Colombianos, que las grandes rocas que hay sobre las montañas, en el rió y parte de la carretera son rocas que fueron expulsadas por el volcán cuando hizo erupción hace muchos años atrás,ademas debo acotar que este volcán esta en alerta naranja ya que esta en constante actividad por lo cual se toman muchas prevenciones al hacer movimientos de placas tectonicas y si el volcán aumenta u disminuye su actividad.
My brother told me what he heard from his Colombian friends, that the large rocks that are on the mountains, in the river and part of the road are rocks that were expelled by the volcano when it erupted many years ago, also I should note that this volcano is on orange alert as it is in constant activity so many precautions are taken to make tectonic plate movements and if the volcano increases or decreases its activity.
Hay una parte de este lugar donde se oyen las aves cantando pero no se que especies son y si están en protección, lo que si abunda por este lugar son vacas, literalmente vimos unas 200 vacas en el camino y por la carretera. También pude ver como algunos agricultores gurdas sus implementos en puentes sobre el rió, y la verdad aun no entiendo el por que.
Al subir mas el se ve el cobre sobre las rocas, hay mas frió y esto por que cada ve estamos mas cerca del nevado de ruiz, pero hay una parte en la que la carretera se aleja del rió y ya no subimos mas de lo necesario.
There is a part of this place where you can hear the birds singing but I do not know what species they are and if they are under protection, what is abundant in this place are cows, we literally saw about 200 cows on the road and along the road. I could also see how some farmers gurdas their implements on bridges over the river, and the truth still do not understand why.
As we climb higher we can see the copper on the rocks, it is colder and this is because we are getting closer to the snowy ruiz, but there is a part where the road moves away from the river and we do not climb more than necessary.
Como mencione al ser un lugar donde se vive de la explotación de bosques es normal ver lugares donde procesen madera de pino, muy artesanales, pero en diferentes sitios y cada lugar, tiene el nombre de la empresa dueña del lote o el convenio que tengan con alguna empres que procese esta madera.
As I mentioned, being a place where people live from the exploitation of forests, it is normal to see places where they process pine wood, very artisanal, but in different places and each place has the name of the company that owns the lot or the agreement they have with a company that processes this wood.
Ya era muy tarde y decidimos volver a Villamaria para ir a los "paradores turísticos", lugar donde están los restaurantes, miradores y termales, fuimos hacia lo mas alto de la montaña para poder ver el paisaje, pero regresamos para poder comer algo e irnos a casa. El frió era increíble y un chocolate o café caliente es ideal en estos lugares, pues estamos a unos 12-14° C.
It was already very late and we decided to return to Villamaria to go to the "paradores turísticos", place where the restaurants, viewpoints and thermal baths are, we went to the top of the mountain to see the scenery, but we returned to eat something and go home. The cold was incredible and a hot chocolate or coffee is ideal in these places, as we are at about 12-14° C.
Como estaba muy oscuro regresamos a casa, pero la verdad fue un paseo increíble, muy bonito y entretenido para salir de la rutina. Ademas que no es muy exigente ni lejos, es ideal para los citadinos de la zona y para los turistas también.

As it was very dark we returned home, but the truth is that it was an incredible ride, very nice and entertaining to get out of the routine. Besides that it is not very demanding or far, it is ideal for the locals and tourists as well.
