Hola amigos, como están? De nuevo estoy por acá y esta vez para contarles como me va de Bartender en mi trabajo, hace ya un par de años subí post sobre mi aprendizaje en cursos para ser bartender.
Ahora es momento de ponerlo en practica y se me dio la oportunidad de hacerlo en un restaurante de sushi muy famoso en mi ciudad, además de eso la experiencia que gané en Colombia como mesonero y cocinero me sirvió para desenvolverme mejor en esta área

Hello friends, how are you? I'm here again and this time I'm here to tell you how I'm doing as a bartender in my job, a couple of years ago I uploaded a post about my apprenticeship in courses to become a bartender.
Now it's time to put it into practice and I was given the opportunity to do it in a very famous sushi restaurant in my city, besides that the experience I gained in Colombia as a waiter and cook helped me to perform better in this area.

La verdad estoy muy alegre y ansioso por el trabajo ya que nunca había estado en una barra de manera profesional, solo en algunos en eventos o en casos muy particulares como ayudante de barra o suplente, es la primera vez que soy Bartender principal.

The truth is that I am very happy and anxious for the job because I had never been in a bar in a professional way, only in some events or in very particular cases as a bar assistant or substitute, it is the first time that I am the main Bartender

Una cosa muy curiosa es que el trabajo llegó de manera espontanea, nunca estuve como tal buscándolo, ya que estaba ocupado estudiando. Había llenado mi curriculum pero no me dio el tiempo para ir a locales y entregarlo, sin embargo recibí una llamada de un amigo donde me comento que en su lugar de trabajo estaban necesitando un Bartender, así que le envié mi hoja de vida y 1 o 2h después me llamaron de la empresa, donde fui a hacer mi entrevista y donde me dirían que comenzaba el día siguiente.
Sinceramente tenia muchos nervios, pues no sabia como seria el ambiente laboral, mis compañeros, el modo de trabajo y muchas cosas pasaban por mi mente, una de ellas era la universidad. Ahora como me será posible estudiar y trabajar a la vez, que tal difícil será esto?

A very curious thing is that the job came spontaneously, I was never looking for it, as I was busy studying. I had filled out my CV but I didn't have time to go to the local office and hand it in, however I received a call from a friend where he told me that his workplace was in need of a Bartender, so I sent him my CV and 1 or 2 hours later they called me from the company, where I went to do my interview and where they told me that I would start the next day.
Honestly, I was very nervous, because I didn't know what the work environment would be like, my colleagues, the way of working and many things were going through my mind, one of them was the university. Now how will it be possible for me to study and work at the same time, how difficult will it be?

Mi primer día de trabajo me recibió otro compañero Bartender, se llama Ricardo al cual por cierto le comente sobre el blog, espero verlo por acá pronto. Me comento sobre como se movían aquí los cocteles, me mostro la carta de recetas, tips, labores diarias como el "mise en place" y otras cosas, hice algunas tareas y bueno fui aprendió a poco en el día.

On my first day of work I was greeted by another fellow Bartender, his name is Ricardo, I told him about the blog, I hope to see him here soon. He told me about how the cocktails moved here, he showed me the menu of recipes, tips, daily tasks like the "mise en place" and other things, I did some homework and well, I learned a little bit during the day.

Ya el día siguiente me recibió otra compañera a la cual yo iba a reemplazar, se llama Michelle una chica super agradable y loca (en buen sentido), la verdad ella fue super genial conmigo esos días en los que trabajos juntos. Estando con ella comencé a preparar mis primeros cocteles, obvio los primeros días tenia mucho miedo de cometer algún error grave, pero no ocurrió mayor cosa. Además ella me trataba como una persona que no sabia nada con respecto al tema, lo cual me agradaba mucho por que me enseñaba hasta el mas mínimo detalle y me daba consejos que ella había aprendido para agilizar todo.
Cabe destacar que mi segundo día partí una copa lavándola 😂😂😂, pero ella me dijo que también le ocurrió lo mismo y a casi todos los bartender en su primera semana.

The next day I was received by another colleague whom I was going to replace, her name is Michelle, a super nice and crazy girl (in a good way), the truth is that she was super cool with me those days when we were working together. Being with her I started to prepare my first cocktails, obviously the first days I was very afraid of making a serious mistake, but nothing much happened. She also treated me like a person who knew nothing about the subject, which I liked a lot because she taught me even the smallest detail and gave me tips that she had learned to speed up everything.
It's worth mentioning that on my second day I broke a glass by washing it 😂😂😂😂, but she told me that the same thing happened to her and to almost all the bartenders in their first week.

Desde acá ya todo era cotidiano, lo mas difícil era tomar agilidad y rapidez para sacar pedidos rápido, además de cocteles los bartenders estamos encargados de las bebidas de nevera, refrescos, cervezas, jugos, entre otras cosas. Por lo cual hay que estar super atento a los pedidos y no dejar acumular nada.
Me enseñaron la manera correcta de destapar vinos y espumantes.

From here everything was already daily, the most difficult thing was to be agile and fast to get orders quickly, besides cocktails, the bartenders are in charge of the drinks in the fridge, soft drinks, beers, juices, among other things. So you have to be very attentive to the orders and not let anything pile up.
They taught me the correct way to uncork wines and sparkling wines.

El 14 de Febrero fue el día que mas trabajamos, ese día la verdad hubo demasiado movimiento, se hicieron muchos cocteles y la cantidad de personas era increíble. Ese dia nuestra jefa directa nos hizo un obsequio a todos y me dio la bienvenida al grupo, que esta conformado por los mesoneros, los bartenders y los baristas.

The 14th of February was the day we worked the most, that day was really busy, there were a lot of cocktails and the amount of people was unbelievable. That day our direct boss gave us all a gift and welcomed me to the group, which is made up of waiters, bartenders and baristas.

Y otra cosa genial de este trabajo es que aprendí a usar la maquina de espresso, en la hora libre de los barista, debemos cubrirlos y hacer café, me dieron la tarea de aprender super rápido y me tomo 2 semanas en ciertas horas, no era muy seguido. Acá es donde aparece mi amigo @jesusaleizarra quien fue que me comento sobre el trabajo y quien me enseño a preparar los cafés, jugos y batidos que salen del área de Urban Coffe.
Además de eso soy muy curioso y a mi lado tengo el área de sushi, siempre veo como preparan todo y la verdad es que se ve increíble e interesante el mundo del sushi también.

And another great thing about this job is that I learned how to use the espresso machine, in the barista's free hour, we have to cover them and make coffee, they gave me the task of learning super fast and it took me 2 weeks in certain hours, it wasn't very often. This is where my friend @jesusaleizarra appears, he was the one who told me about the job and who taught me how to prepare the coffees, juices and smoothies that come out of the Urban Coffe area.
Besides that I am very curious and next to me I have the sushi area, I always see how they prepare everything and the truth is that the world of sushi looks amazing and interesting too.

Y bueno ya tengo mas de un mes acá, ya tengo mucha velocidad en todo, aun me falta un poco algunas cosas pero ya casi se corrige por completo, ya preparamos cocteles mas rápido y al mismo tiempo y ya estoy muy bien integrado con mis compañeros, mi ambiente laboral es lo máximo hasta ahora no tengo quejas y la verdad espero que siga igual.
Para el día de la mujer prepare una receta de coctel especial para ellas, que fue un rotundo éxito y estoy muy alegre por eso, mi idea acá es aprender mas ganar mucha experiencia.
Incluso hicimos varios cambios en la barra desde que llegue, trajeron otro tipo de botellas, hacemos cocteles con bebidas costosas y muchas otras variantes.

And well, I've been here for more than a month now, I've got a lot of speed in everything, I'm still missing a few things but it's almost completely corrected, we prepare cocktails faster and at the same time and I'm already very well integrated with my colleagues, my work environment is the best so far I have no complaints and the truth is that I hope it stays the same.
For women's day I prepared a special cocktail recipe for them, which was a resounding success and I am very happy about that, my idea here is to learn more and gain a lot of experience.
We have even made several changes in the bar since I arrived, they brought other types of bottles, we make cocktails with expensive drinks and many other variants.
