Splinterlands Art Contest - Blackmoor Trickster

Hello everyone! Happy Weekend!🌞

I will be participating again in this week's Splinterlands art contest and this time I tried to draw a whole scene with the Blackmoor Trickster. He is from a rebellion card and I've thought of this scene after a war ended he would be sitting on top of the mountain of corpses he had killed, chilling and playing his flute.

Art Process

In the whole painting process, this part is probably my favorite. I had fun drawing the silhouette of skulls forming a mountain of corpses. I only used the chalk brush here and just drew some shapes, then painted dark circles on them, forming an illusion of skulls. I also did blocking of light and shadow on my character here in a different color to avoid confusion.

Here I painted the environment, I wanted the setting of the scene at sunset so I painted with a tint of orange and red as a resemblance to the bloody war. I mainly used the gradient tool for the background and for the tint of colors on the skulls. The form of the clouds wasn't part of my plans, at this time I was just confused about where should I place the clouds so that it wouldn't distract the focal point. I'm just doodling anything on it until forms the shape of a seeming skull, I put two holes and it looks cool.

This time I painted the character, but I didn't paint fine details onto it just the light and shadow. Also made sure that it would become part of the scene and not look like a sticker glued onto it. I painted the general details referencing the design of the Blackmoor Trickster enough that he will be identified as him even when looked up from afar. I then added highlights and also changed the color of the background so it would look good overall. And this is the final result...
