Portrait Study: Comfort

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my art blog. Today, I'm sharing the art process of my second-week entry on the last sketchtember prompts. I chose the prompt "comfort" back then so I could draw in a more relaxing manner, I didn't want to complicate things and end up finishing nothing. I draw this in what style, pose, and software I'm comfortable with.

ART PROCESS

I started with the rough sketch, I'm a big fan of Sam Yang's style and I've been studying his styles for quite a while now. I followed his exaggerations of proportions and the stylization of the features of the face.

I change the color of the background first before going into my character because I think and also as what I've experienced, the color of the background greatly affects the presence of the colors on my character. After that, I used the lasso tool and traced my sketch then painted the base color.

I added a new Multiply layer on top of my base color to paint the shadows. I then lowered the opacity of my sketch and painted some details on the face. The color of the nose is the same as the lips and the blush and I'm planning to leave the teeth pure white to the end.

I added more details to the hair and gave her a fancy dress. I controlled the pressure of the brush when I was painting the details of the hair then used the hairbrush in Krita to give it some texture, I also did the same in painting her dress. I then added a light contrast to the focal point which is her face and some on the shoulder as it is the nearest from the source of light.

And after adding the final touches such as the highlights and the sketch for the texture here is the...

thank you @anggreklestari I was worried about the clarity nose at first because it kinda blends with the color of the face but those little highlights make it pop😊
