Art #6: Bashful Mimosa
Hello everyone! Hoping you have a nice day, it's been raining here the whole afternoon. I'm sharing with you now my new OC - the Bashful Mimosa. I got inspired by the creativity of rinotuna on Instagram in designing his characters based on random things/plants/animals.
Bashful Mimosa is a sensitive plant that closes its leaves when touched. It's commonly called "Makahiya" here, in fact, I only learned the English term of it today while I was searching for a reference image. And I usually found this plant beside the road.
Process:
I started the sketch with paper and pen as this is much faster than sketching on the small screen of my phone. Imported it on Medibang and made a few adjustments using the mesh-control tool and started coloring her. I copied this way of process from my friend here @solumviz
In coloring, I started with the base color, then added the lights and shadow. I was having a hard time thinking about what to design with her shirt, I spent an hour scrolling on Pinterest looking for design references it took me longer because I don't know what to search exactly, I mean, I don't know what kind of style/shirt is this. In the end, I chose to proceed with stripes.
After going with the details, I retraced the lineart and after an hour of retracing and almost to the finish line... medibang crashed😬(along with my passion to do lineart again lol). After that, I place the flower on her ears, then imported it into Lightroom for the finishing touch.

I also use Medibang for some or my art. For art that needs 3D modeling, I use Clip Studio. Oh, that's a pretty flower for your character! I love how you write every detail of your art. ☺️

Thank you, I also used Clip Studio before the 3d model is very useful but sadly clipstudio isn't available on my current phone. I sometimes used the Magic poser as a replacement for the 3d model reference
It's my first time to know about the magic poser. I started with my phone too, but now I am using a Huion tablet. 😊 Nice meeting you!

Very creative bro. It's good to see you back here after a while.
That technique works like magic right? Its way better than what I used to do earlier xd. Can get really good results this way.
yeah the technique is really fascinating, going to proceed with this one in every digital art 'til I could buy a pen tablet hahah. thank you bro
No problems Oz. I'm thinking the same thing as you. I'm saving for a tab because of it's mobility.
the final result is excellent, I really like the final result, it is very well proportioned and I really like your technique and style of digital illustration, your OC is great.
