Art #5: My Neighbor Chubblebum

Hello everyone! I wanna share this artwork of mine which was inspired by the movie "My Neighbor Totoro"

This was my entry to Artpark's weekly DTIYS before. The task is to draw @takyarts pokemon- Chubblebum in our style. But I don't have an art style I'll call my own yet, I just draw anything I could think is fun. And this idea is what came first to my mind when I saw the announcement for a new DTIYS Challenge.

Art process

I started with the sketch. It's easy to draw Chubblebum because you only have to think and draw the shape of an avocado😆. And I proceeded with the lineart- the most tiresome part of this artwork.

I painted the background first as what I've always heard recently in every YouTube tutorial.

And the most exciting part is painting our characters. I used the multiply layer for my light and shadow, then lowered the opacity and used the soft brush to erase the parts where the light hit. This way it gives off a nice slight glow. I then used Lightroom for the final color adjustments.
