Simian Switch & Danny Rumbl and Robbert Visser

Located just before the varkenmarkt, you will find a parking spot with a beautiful mural of a European Robin done by artist Simian Switch, in a completely different style than the last murals we have seen, on the wall of a building facing the parking lot. And, at first glance this is the only one. But if you walk around this building, you will find a piece done on the side and back by Danny Rumble & Robbert Visser.

Why a piece on the front of the building from a different artist you ask? Well, Danny Rumble and Robbert Visser put a piece on it which the surrounding neighbors found annoying, and started complaining to Simian Switch. In consultation with the surrounding neighbors Simian eventually put up this great looking European Robin.

More info about Simian Switch can be found in my previous posts about him (see links down below to previous pieces of him on the route)

The artists

Danny Rumbl is a Rotterdam based artist and illustrator, making brightly colored and 'cartoon' like mural like the parrot on the back of the building.

Robbert Visser makes his murals in this specific abstract style like the side of the building

The winners of this competition would be invited to share there mural art in Dordrecht at the time of the Beeldenstroom Woordenstorm festival in 2016 and a streetart festival in 2018.

Yeah, i know 😪 As this one is on the side of a parking lot, near stores, in covid time. So don't know if i could have found a better timing. But you're right, these 4 wheeled things are really annoying standing in front of great artwork 😀
