A streetart trip along Dordrecht, The Netherlands #14: Marinde Molendijk: Gezicht op Dordrecht
The Artwork
On the side of this shop in the Vriesestraat, you can gasp at a mural based on a famous painting by Dutch Grandmaster Aelbert Cuyp called 'Gezicht op Dordrecht' which roughly translates to 'Facing Dordrecht' which was painted in approx. 1655.
The Artist
This mural is done by artist Marinde Molendijk. Marinda is classicly schooled on the Willem de Kooning academy of art in Rotterdam, and loves to paint. She also gives painting classes according to her website.

Streetart Tour Dordrecht
Dordrecht hosted a Streetart competion back in 2016 (Iconoclash, part of Beeldenstroom Woordenstorm festival), with Simian Switch as a curator. The winners of this competition would be invited to share there mural art in Dordrecht at the time of the Beeldenstroom Woordenstorm festival in 2016 and a streetart festival in 2018.
